Re: Blow-by but good compression?

To answer the questions, just a single vent hose to atmosphere. No PVC etc. the oil use seems in check. I'll have a look with the dip stick out tomorrow but it's a relatively small diameter opening. Can't see it effecting things greatly. It does get a very small amount of oil in the coolant ...

Blow-by but good compression?

A little bit baffled by what's up with my 5L hilux motor. It's been running a turbo for around 5 years with no dramas. This year I've noticed that the rocker cover vent hose has been venting a hazy oily smoke that wasn't there previously. The gas seems to pulse out of the vent hose at around 1 litre ...

Bundera Air Con

I'm looking to have air con installed into a bundera and have been told i need to source a bundera kit, which is proving difficult. I'm wondering if there are any parts common to other 70 series toyotas that i could use. I think it's mainly the in dash parts that i require. I don't need a compressor ...

What are people paying for these?

I've had quotes from 350 to over 450! for 265/75/16's

Seems very steep. Somewhere around 300 seems reasonable. Unless they are a totally different tyre to the previous construction.

Any chance of a few people posting actual diameters of their new MTR's? Especially interested in 265/75R16 and 285/75R16 Unlike other makers goodyear doesn't give detailed size info it seems. What web site are looking at? Both those sizes are on the Goodyear web site. http://www.goodyeartires.com ...

It's actually a 5L hilux motor...

I'm not sure if the revs are a problem, but they seem very high.

It would be out of the efficiency range of the motor i would have thought. It does run hot but that could be unrelated.

reduction gears question

I've bought a bundera with reduction grearing. It revs at about 3400 at 110km/h and i want to lower the rmp. I dont know what kit has been installed but is it likely that the high range can be returned to normal without chaning the low?

I have tried the 80 series fronts all round and found it too high. I'm probably a little conservative but without correcting other stuff the geometry was thrown way out. I've still got the coils if you want to have a go once you find a car.

Cheers

This is from an R33 skyline. Its not huge but fits into the space quite well and is out of the way of the oil cap and dipstick. Everything lines up nicely. I dont think it was getting a huge amount of flow through it due to under bonnet turbulence so i've since ducted it down underneath the car ...

Looking through the dobbinson springs catalogue for springs for my 86 LJ70, and i'm confused about something... http://www.dobinsonsprings.com/catalogues/Toyota.pdf looking at pages 100 - 102 of the catalogue and the 65mm lifts. Why would the 65mm lift need long travel shocks for the late model swb ...

It raised it 90mm, i'm not sure how sagged the current springs are, it sits level front to rear as it is now, but i imagine there would be 10-20mm of sag there. Wasn't aware of the differences between the petrol and diesel front springs. There is a slight difference in the 2 pairs i have, but they ...

Off the shelf Bundera lifts

Have tried 80 series front springs all round and it was too high for my liking. So i'm looking at just buying a 2" kit. Who makes them and which are the better ones? is there anything wrong with the OME kit? I've read some nasty things. Also should i just be looking to get the springs then get the ...

I've just put a 2.5" right through my bundy. Makes a big difference on the highway. It's still an effort doing 110, but its got a lot more pickup once there. I'd say the top speed has probably gone up 10 or so km/h. Just generally much nicer to drive too, + you can hear the turbo now.

I believe the tyre and rim association allow a 3% variation either side of their stated diameter for a certain size tyre. The 3% only applies to the rubber section though and doesn't include the diameter of the rim. so for eg. if the tyre and rim assosiation state a 31" tyre is to be 781mm on a 15 ...

I went and saw SSV and they had nothing that was any good.

That one has a great sized front on it, but would look terrible. Needs to slope down at the back..

and thanks Pete, some of them look about as good as half the stuff i've found.
