Re: Jackaroo - Strong enough to modify or not?

Basically he wants to put in front and rear lockers, snorkel and a winch bar with winch. Also a 2 inch suspension lift would be on the cards as would a decent set of muddies. Simo Yes Yes and Yes etc.. I'm with Dazz, the old jack is VERY underated. off road racing pedigree speaks volumes. Lockers ...

cheers mate, mines standard at the moment, will no doubt go a 40mm lift all round like i did with the 98 i had, just gotta wait till the standard gear is stuffed first.

I'd be interested in some longer term fuel consumption differences if you remember.

I am thinking more about removing rotating mass from my 03 se when doing the mundane highway work. Plus yeah the cv's will last a heck of a lot longer.

Hi dude, first up $ 13k is plenty for a mid 90's jack, you would even get into some post 98 updates for that money. But if you go the post 98 with the 3.0td make sure the injector recall is done and commit yourself to higher servicing costs due to 2 filters and synthetic oil requirements. Having ...

 damn thats bad for a manual, you might even have a buggered o2 sensor, it would pay to get it into a decent workshop with a dyno and see what is really going on, a couple of dyno runs with air/fuel monitoring wont break the bank.

you should be able to get that ute down to 12/100 easy enough.

auto or manual ??

the work ute i had was a 2wd v6 twin cab auto, it used between 14/100 and 16.5/100 depending on use.

clean the airflow meter, throttle body and air bypass valve. usually helps a lot and inproves the driveability and idle.

the rotary valve concept has been around for a long while now, it runs "hot and cold" with popularity. I think every time up to now the seals have let them down, and they cant acheive a decent service life. But the rotary "wankel" engine took a lot of years to teethe out the probs and is nowdays a ...
