Hey sharon I'd recommend either a carter afb or edelbrock both carbs are the same design , I could never get decent economy out of a holley also the carters will run on a lot steeper angle than a holley .

If it's still got water anywhere In the diffs,tranny or electrics for any length of time it's gunna give you trouble, sooner and/or later.

I've been running one of these compressors for about 12 months just run 5mm cable to the relay doesn't get hot & no trouble on start up .

your paint is blushing due to condensation on the surface of the paint when the solvent is evaporating.
several ways around this are watch your temp/humidity when spraying or if you can't avoid it use retarder at about 50/50 with your thinners.

Sorry, I was under the imporession that the engine was in effect a modernised 245 chrysler with fuel injection etc. I thought the chrysler engines completley replaced the AMC gear in the late eighties when they bought jeep. Anyway good to know.

have one on my petrol scout, using an electric holley fuel pump works no worries , put it on cause i use alot of drum fuel which some times has water in it so the glass bowl comes in handy ,has a drain on the bottom to let any water out.

yeh get it vulcanised & put it back on , we do em on our work vehicles & prime mover all the time, everyone I've had repaired we've worn out ;)
just be aware , all the repairs I've had done the area where it has been repaired , seem to perish prematurely. so i wouldn't be tempted to use as a spare ...

don't waste your time or money mulisha, snake oil.
if your vehicles got hardened valve seat inserts you won't have a problem,wont stop heads cracking :roll:

got a detriot in the rear, never had a problem does clunk& bang very rarely& will step out sideways if you mash the skinny pedal.
lockrite in the front had some dramas with it smashing pins & locking the steering when new ,sorted that out & haven't had a problem for 3 1/2 years.

I have heard of another bloke using mobilfluid 424 . It's a tractor gearbox oil and is very thick. Anybody else heard of or tried this as a solution.....

I'd say the baulking ring on 5th is rooted ,no "snake oil" type fixes here time to pull it down & fix it properly .
we use 424 or donax td ...

yeh Iwas thinking about the same thing got a spare left over from my dual fuel set up .
was thinking the compressor might be air tight while it's new but prob start leaking later on.

Actually glazed bores is what happens to a cylinder during run-in, bore polishing is what happens at any time after due to oil and combustion coke on the rings polishing the cyl wall to a sheen. Can be avoided with a quality oil but not fixed by the oil. Glazed bores can be caused by a quality oil ...

I've also heard of dumping washing powder down the carby throat with the engine running - supposed to "score" the cylinder walls and help the rings seal.


believe it or not this is recommended practice in a engine burning oil with glazed bores (wont help worn out engine). pour measured doses into ...

what year did jeep change their pcd from 5 on 5.5 to 5 on 4.5.
trying to source rotors for a disc conversion on the rear of the scout it's 5 on 5.5

if you are going to get the tire vulcanized & use it as a spare just be aware to inspect the repair once in a while, in my experiance the repair will start to perish after about 12/18 months so if you haven't worn the tire out buy then i'd get rid of it. just my observations,cheers

repairing sidewall damage is no worries they can valcanize the torn area good as new .
had about 4 done in the last 18 months usually charge bout $40/50.
seem safe had them on back of GQ ute carrying heavy loads alot. actually run one tire to near bald & had side repaired from near new.
