It's 22r & not 22RE isn't it?
Holley Red with a max 7PSI fuel pressure if it's a Carby model

or a Carter Gold would be fine!

no motor likes overheating...period!!!

The 3L can handle high temp a good as any motor as they're all steel unlike alloy heads which go soft when they get real hot.

Also when you overheat a motor the rings start to lose tension & become brittle & therefore drop compression.

I'd loosen the timing ...

Decompressing a 3L (2.8 Litre) Hilux motor!

Has anyone decompressed a Hilux 2.8 motor when fitting a turbo?

I've been running my Hilux with a turbo fitted for 15 Years & building a motor for a Surf (2.8). The Surfs have lower compression compared to Hilux motor & was wondering what the benefit would be to decompress the motor, if any? I ...

Mate I'm using the chassis for a camper trailer, so the cab isn't a worry.

I just need to know if the mounts are the same or do I need to manufacture/modify all mounts

Thanks

Mate they have an electrical motor on the transfer case for the "Push Button 4wd", they sometimes stick & don't engage the transfer case.

But if it is missing the controller then it won't engage the front diff nor the transfer case!

Mounting a 2005 tray to a 92 chassis

Hi can anyone please tell me if a 2005 on extra cab tray will mount up to a 92 extra cab chassis?

I'm not concerned with the filler etc, only the mounting points!

Thanks

As long as it's from a 2LTE which comes with a bucket/shim setup in the head as against the older roller rocker design.

The bolt patterns are the same except one stud that needs to be unscrewed & repositioned (the thread is there in the 3L head)

You have to suppley oil feed & return lines as well ...

Completely different motors.

You'd need a lot of stuffing around to fit one.

You can supercharge a 2.8, like any motor.

I run 11PSI & have done for 14 years on my 2.8!

An R150/151 from a Surf will fit fine, just make sure you get the front & rear tail shafts as I believe the R series is a slightly longer box!

Yeh I totally agree.

Your motor must have a had a lot of wear prior to fitting the turbo up.

I'd say the rings/bore were already on the way out & the extra boost has just accelerated the failure. How many klms are on the motor?

I have been running a Garret setup for over 14 years on my 2.8 with ...

Under load??? Do you mean fully loaded, up really steep hills?? or cuising on the highway??

The head is the most expensive part of a diesel motor & if you were doing a head at 300,000 you'd do a bottom end as well!

Also was it an OEM head or aftermarket??

To put a diesel in whether it be 1kzte or 5L, you'll have to change the engine mounts.

With the 1Kzte you'll also need to shorten the rear shaft & maybe lengthen front shaft as the R151F is longer than a G52.

The easiest & cheapest option is a 2.8Litre or 3Litre non-electronic, but you'll need ...

Obviously the 2.8 needs more fuel than the 2.4, so they have been adjusted to squirt more fuel.

Crack the injector lines & see if fuel is pumping out the injector lines when cranking?

If yes then keep on cranking, even if the glow plugs aren't working eventually it will fire when there is enough heat in the cylinders.

Diesels only need fuel supply to work, it can be only a problem with ...

The Gregory manuals are great for service work, they state fluid volumes & give good general ...
