its not a fun job. i did it on an mq swb swapped 2 cabs around and thinking of mabey doing it to my gq lwb too. id prob start by removing as much interiour as you can all seats carpets and trims you want to swap remove all your doors and panels bonnets guards etc to make the cab as light as possible ...

time for a ute cab or a new wagon cab to cut into an extra. i cant quite understand it. the handbrake was still on solidwhen it was at the bottom and still holds when the tuck was on a hill later in the da with the car trailer and a hilux on it.

mine has 352000 clicks and while warming it up i was finishing a few bits under the bonnet and noticed a faint big end knock that dosnt go away and gets progrssivly worse through the rev range. it sounds like a # 2 big end. it has good oil ...

although you had a co2 test done and ised a non genuine gasket and it still over heated i noticed there was no mention of replacing the radiator cap?
a faulty radiator cap will lower the system pressure and thus cause oiverheating.
just my 2c anyways

any info would be appreciated guys. on a td42 were is the tacho sender located? mine is a dx so i assume its not fitted from factory and id like to get a sender and rig one up. so any info about this ie were there located how they work etc woul be great.

not sure of were you sould source springs down south there. if you were in queensland i think from memory a mate got dobinon springs and some efs shocks for his patrol for about 500 bucks new. you may be able to frieght it but id say i would be easier to source down there.

it definatly sounds like a throwout bearing. and spigot bearing wouldnt be a bad idea to replace that either. im dredding the day mine needs to be done. there a huge box (td42). i did a clutch on an 8 last weeka nd that was bad enough. but i spose if we want to play these games we just have to wear ...
