I had a Bj42 with a 3B diesel which was indirect injection sold it with 320 000 km, I was the 2nd owner and the previous owner just regularly maintained it and never had a problem. I have never heard of the weak bottom end ...

I have a firdgemate 55L. Works great, it can be used as a fridge or fridge and freezer. You don't have to worry about rust or knocking it too hard cause it plastic and has very thick insulation. Plus it's pretty cheap $969 with an inverter thrown in.

I'm with JustinC on this one. If you have the money you should look at getting the 2.8 TDI motor, and push the boost up.

Or rebuild the 3.9 for LPG and add of supercharger.

BJ42 Towing Capacity

Hey guys I tried doing a search but I couldn't find any results. I was wondering what the Towing Capacity is for a BJ42. My Dad is selling the old Cruiser and someone asked him, but he couldn't answer the question, and I didn't know.

Thanks

The Disco does have more room from improvement and would kill the Prado the some more motification, I was going to GQ rears and 80 front shockies and extend the brake lines, but I was able to sell my Disco for what I bought it for, then buy the Prado for only $3000 more. Oh and the Disco had it's ...

Yeah I know, both Vehicles are setup for the touring, and have extra heavy duty Suspension. It's just that the IFS Prado with Swaybars Prado made it up to the same height, as the Solid axle Disco with no swaybars. I'm just saying the the Prado has less done to it and has about the same amount of ...

Living with Defenders

Since I've pretty much sold my Disco, I was starting to look for another 4wd. I was looking at other Disco's then I saw a Defender, which reminds me of my old BJ42, but with a better ride and air-con. I would pretty much use the defender for trips, and sometimes for driving around town. I don't know ...

So I think that's a little rich for me because ...

These posts have me thinking, I've never really attempted anything like this, (I've only done basic basic mehanical stuff) that's why I think I would need someone to fit the engine and other bits. But I'm getting more and more interested in this idea the more I think about it.

So $3500 for an engine, and $1200 for the adapters, plus another $2000 for exhaust and fitting (I'm just guessing). Plus I would sell the V8 and LPG gear which I think I could sell for a minimum of $1000. That's roughly $5800. That's not to bad I think.
