Re: Custom radiator mounts

To avoid potential electrolyse, don't forget to isolate the radiator from the body with rubber mounts.

Re: Butane/LPG soldering kits

We had a Iroda kicking around the in the workshop I worked at years ago, That exact kit. It turned its self into a flame thrower and I didn't like the way it handled.

Re: Butane/LPG soldering kits

For over 15 years I have been using the orange Portasol butane irons like this one when installing / working electrical equipment in cars and or remote areas when no power was available although even when there was power I would sometimes still use the this orange one as its so versatile and capable ...

Re: check your radiators

another tip with alloy radiators...before you install one do a electrolysis test. How do you do an electrolysis test? Use your eyes or is there a proper meathod? Use a multimeter on its lowest DC range. Connect the negative lead on the meter to the negative on the battery and the stick the meters ...

Re: check your radiators

Just got home and checked the service manual. That sensor on the bottom radiator hose outlet is the over-temp cut out for the air con. I pulled my A/C out when the turbo/front mount went in so no loss to me.

Re: check your radiators

Re: check your radiators

Doesn't surprise me, A few weeks ago I ordered a aluminium rad from Adelaide for a petrol GQ, only to get a Diesel one in the petrol box.. At least in the end I did get what I paid for and it made a huge difference to the temp. Good luck with yours.

Re: White exhaust ports - (only some) Tappets?

Thanks for every one's feed back. This motor doesn't use excessive oil and the catch can/intake is clean. I did increase the boost the other day to around 20 PSI and drove around for about 20 km but have since turned the boost back down to 15 after I was told that I need a second gas tank so I can ...

Re: White exhaust ports - (only some) Tappets?

Thanks for the advice. I am running a turbo diesel "log" manifold with external waste gate mounted so it was interesting to hear you mention a log type manifold, but.. I took some photos of the ports a few months ago and they were all black.. I can't richen up any ports individually, the set is ...

White exhaust ports - (only some) Tappets?

Pulled the exhaust manifold off my Turbo LPG TB42 the other day to fix a leak between it and the turbo, Anyways found that 2 of the exhaust ports are white.. I know that means lean but why only 2? If the tappets where tight, could it cause this? It does rattle a little when you start it cold, but ...

Same thing happened to a mate of mine in his GQ, we just cut a small section of hose from somewhere off the truck and then found a bolt to wedge/thread between the hose then filled with river water for the ride back. Worked 100% and the bung is still there today, bar the dirty water!
