Re: rim offset

Well after being out on the weekend, the -13 with 315's do rub on the inner guards when at full flex at the rear. However they have a little more clearance to the front mudflaps when I have lock on which means I have returned with front mudflaps still attached, Just.

Re: High pinion centers

After looking at the diff/drive shaft clearance it doesnt look to be much of an advantage for ramp over as the radious arms are about the same. I was mostly after it to minimise the change in uni joint angle after the 4 inch lift. Overall is there much advantage to be gained?? This is just a tourier ...

Re: Another Diff Gears Question

Thanks for the reply.
I was leaning towards the 4.3 but everyone seemed to be going for the 4.6 ratio and didnt what to do it twice.
4.3's will be ordered and go via ARB lockers on way to my car.
Thanks for the confirmation of my conclusions.

Re: 500kg car trailer to carry 2000kg

Sounds like to me it would be easier to have your tow rig towing capacity uprated by an engineer. Gu is 3.5T towing so it should need much to get the GQ uprated to say 3T atleast.

Re: Superior's New 'Long Arm' Superflex Radius Arms

Does anyone do a longer rear trailing arm with a new bolt on pivot point so as to not change the location of the diff? The longer arms would be good so that the tail shaft angles remain correct through out the suspension travel. Might have to look at changing over from my old arm and drop boxes to ...

Another Diff Gears Question

I have a TD42t St wagon with a 4 inch lift, 315/75/16 tires and will have a top mount IC, High flowed turbo, 3inch exaust and tune. I am looking at either 4.3 diff gears or 4.6. 4.3 will be slightly taller than standard and 4.6 a little shorter so my question is... Am I likely to get better highway ...

Re: rim offset

I have just fitted 315/75/16's to my GU and went for -22 offset (same as 35/15s I was running) but they were a little bit to wide to fit inside the flares, so I had to go back to -13 offset and works well. 16X8 ROH and still flexes up well with out rubbing.

For anyone that has done this conversion, was there anything else that was required other than what is on the front diff? Was the conversion successful and worth while? Will be running 35's. thanks

Re: GQ Death Wobble

Very common issue.
Your front pan hard buses will be shot, typically the top bush where the pan hard rod is mounted to the chassis.
Buy a new adjustable pan hard rod or just replace the bushes in your current one and it will be as good as new.

Removing factory Cruise control from 4.2 Gu.

I am looking at buying a factory cruise control from a 2004 GU 4.2TD patrol to fit to my 2002 ST. Are all the looms in place in the 2002 ST wagon ready to just plug in a factory Cruise control? What components do I need to make sure that wreakers remove for me to make sure I get it all. 1, Unit in ...

GQ geabox into GU?

I know this has been asked a hundred times before but in every thread it was never clear to me what was required to make it fit. better flex =
The right front/rear spring rates. Superior super flex arm and corectly choosen lenght shocks with the right valving, in conjunction with the drop boxes and other bits you already have.
IMO anyway. :)

If you have a look at some dorp boxes fitted then you will see that if your drop boxes do hang up then you would never get the belly over the obstical anyway as the angle from the trailing edge of the tyre to the center of the belly is less than from the tyre to the back edge of the drop box, if ...

267-75-16's are standard for the GU ute. (approx 31.5")
285-78-16's fit no worries with no lift (approx 33")
so, 285-75-15's would be approx 32" so will fit with no problems and be very close to original size.

no point putting in an engine that is all power and no torque down low in the revs.
2"-3" lift will be fine to clear 33's. My Gu clears 35's with 4" lift.
