Re: IMPORTATION OF TD 1HD-FTE MOTORS
To buy one from Toyota would be a very expensive exercise as I need the motor, g`box, transfer case, ECU and wiring....thats why one from a wreck is first choice.

Re: IMPORTATION OF TD 1HD-FTE MOTORS
Chunks...had my first drive of a mate`s highly modified 75 series.....full coil suspension all round plus THE MOTOR is auto form the day and was very impressed, just a shame he has a pintel tow hook arrangement otherwise would have put the caravan on the back for a run....even so it completely took ...

Re: IMPORTATION OF TD 1HD-FTE MOTORS
You may well be correct, but the single turbo version is mated to a manual box & I want an auto.........so will they mate correctly. Will the VD motor be too powerful for the rest of the 100 series chassis, probably need to engineered as different engine mounts will need to be fabricated etc ...

Best GPS System for Laptop
Guys, am looking to buy a GPS &/or Mapping System of the whole of Oz to put on my laptop. Hema seems to offer a system which is priced around the $1000 mark...........seems expensive, but perhaps the benefits outweigh the cost !! Thought I saw a mapping system available from Federal Government in an ...

Some of you may have seen my earlier post headed "100 Power Upgrade", the problem is still which system is the best taking into account that the donor vehicle is a 2001 LC 100 Petrol/LPG Auto & is a tow horse for a caravan with a GVM of 3.5t....tare is 2.5t. Am concerned with excessive heat or does ...

V8Suki...thanks for the vote of confidence, nice to know that your engine swap worked out fine & you are happy with the decision.
As a matter of interest how long ago did you do the engine swap & roughly how many k`s has it done since the changeover ??

100 Power Upgrade
Auto-Craft........am very surprised with your advice that the current 4.5 has about the same power as a 1HDTD, without checking would have thought the turbo diesel would eat the old 4.5 both in straight HP & torque. Perhaps the leveler is the 3.5T`s of caravan siting on the rear bar !!. The only ...

Am surprised at your pricing, but that`s more in line with my own thinking...would have liked to go 5 speed, but the mob in Geelong are not ready to release there latest product just yet. However with enough HP the additional gear might not be necessary. I guess you have some names/addresses of ...

Guys, some time back a lot of you put some answers together in relation to a power upgrade for my LC100 Petrol Auto running LPG....like 3 x tanks holding a total of 186litres plus 95 petrol. The comments have all been digested & still the deal is not done. The consensus was to motor swap to a 1HDTFE ...

Flyology...thats the accepted wizdom of most folk. It is cheaper to fit a turbo diesel 5speed auto V sell what I`ve got & buy a genuine. By doing the latter you would end up with a newer model simply because the 5 speed autos came out sometime around 2005. The downside is that the difference in ...

Scanas,,,,,,,,lots of good reasons to go that way, but budget is too big in my opinion. Total Care 4WD in Sydney has successfully completed plenty of these & does a first class "factory" install, the cost is the main reason for exploring other less costly ideas.

Oldmate whole unit only done 142Klm since new & yes is in excellent condition. With no van makes excellent power & very satisfied, however van all up is about 3.5 tonnes so you know it`s there. Inland across Oz is flat running so ok, but coastal hilly terrain & loss of momentum makes hard work of it ...

Guys, one thing to remember is that the vehicle is a 4.5l petrol...a lot of the comments contained in the 4WD Monthly article shows a 1HZ Diesel. Also is heat a problem ?? as I have travelled with plenty of friends with after market turbos and in the heavy going (sand & steep hills) the motors run ...

Guys, thanks for the thoughts...there is a guy in Sydney that does a wonderful job of transferring a 100 Turbo Diesel Motor,Auto 5 speed & Transfer case into Nissan Patrols & Landcruiser 80/100...trouble is cost is around $25k less the cost of selling your motor/g`box etc, so about $20/21k all up ...

Guys, looking for advice before proceeding further with a planned power upgrade. No turbos as I beleive autobox would be too fagile......so that leaves a motor change (V8 or turbo diesel 6), supercharging - probably same drama to gearbox or chip & exhaust system.....however over to you for ideas ...
