mate sounds like you need to check your voltages on the rail,, make sure you are getting the right glowplugs to suit the patrol. you mostly burn them out when you get the wrong votage.. i would go genuine...
make sure you clean the rail so there is a good contact... let me know if there is anymore ...

tacho problem. just go by the hard revs to change gears
Well im not sure where the pick up is for the tacho.. will look it up tomorrow at work... if it is in the alternator, which more than likly it is have the starpoint checked for back connections on the rectifier plate... i have seen faulty diodes do this in alternators...
