Re: What diff is this ?

Can be made to fit easy enough and use drive shafts,
The good:
Wet brakes
Planetary hub reduction
Hydro steer factory fitted
Will handle big tyres

The bad:
No diff lock
Very heavy
Parts not so common and probably expensive

Re: THE WAR OF THE WINCHES

Someone should start an event that puts different winches up against each other like magazines do when they compare some products. It would be more about the winches speed and reliabilty, how user friendly they are and so on. For example you could have a simple stage for outright fastest no load ...

Re: Hydro assist fundamentals

What's the difference between the 60,75,80 and 105 series boxs other than sector shaft size?
Do they all have the same internal flow or is the 75 somewhat different?
Do they all have the same mounting pattern?

Re: HD steering Arms and Trailing Arms

Serg,

I bent my maxidrive trackrod by winching up a steep hill with the wheels off the ground, the ruts were very deep and no other lines to take.
With it bent it still survived the rest of the weekend and the drive home.
Straightened it in the press and has been fine since.

Hey Serg,

I've used both and can recommend them, Blackwoods has a good range to choose from.

Try some nordlock washers, they require 1.5 times the tensioning torque to undo.We use them at work in high vibration areas with good results and will handle the heat from your manifold.

Use 110 calipers on your discs, much better braking from larger pistons and pads. They bolt straight on but are only single line unlike the rangies.

Mick,
Check the pressure relief valve isn't jammed open,it's a known problem with the rover V8's that I know of.It's the large hex plug near the oil filter, remove that and check the plunger is free in the bore.

I've just rebuilt my spare 4 bolt and was happy with the availability of parts as they're more common than the 6 bolt, they seem plenty strong enough so no worries there. As mentioned new ones can be bought for around $800 which I think is quiet reasonable. So If I was in your position I'd use the 4 ...

The cable tensioner will stop your cable releasing off the drum when under no load, such as when free spooling. It will not help the cable feed across to the outer sections of the drum if you have excessive fleet angle. If the tensioner spring has alot of clamping force it will make pulling the cable ...

with a pto winch would it be possible to winch yourself back onto your wheels if your fourby was on it's roof,by hooking the winch up and using the starter motor (with the transfercase in neutral and the winch engaged, maybe 1st gear to reduce the load ) to crank it over?

if your running a 2.2L 4cyl carby motor and that fuel pump that you got out of the landrover works ok,then i would use that one.the land rover motor was 2.25L 4cyl carby aswell.i used to run a similar pump on mine and it worked fine, also worked fine on a 3.5L carbied v8 range rover.
