As the others have said:

4.6 short motor is probably the cheapest and easiest way to get more power. Maybe I should buy that stroker motor then you can buy my 4.6. :D

Shouldn't be too expensice to supercharge either.

But most importantly, are you running 4.11's?

I have run 285/75R16 Silverstone MT117 Sports on my D2 for months now and I couldn't be happier. I moved from 32" BFG Muds and I have found the Silverstones wear much better and have performed much better than the BFG's on road, mud, loose stuff etc etc. Plus they cost me $228 p/tyre fitted and ...

Thanks all,

I think I have dedcided to keep my old tyres for a bit longer and spend the money on other things.

But I was asking around today and the majority seemed to think the extra money for the Simex's was worth it. There seems to be a few people who have tried the Silverstones then gone back ...

Tyres - what to get?

I am looking at getting some new tyres for the Rangie. It currently has 35/12.5-15 ET2's . I couldn't belive how much these have gone up since I last bought them. They are no $415/tyre which puts them in the same price range as the swampers.

So, I have the choice of :

1. Simex ET2's
2. Swampers ...

If you are still looking for an adaptor, I was speaking to a guy who says he does them.

It is Rova Centre down at Skye (near Frankston). Ask for Dave,

Yep, I got a new alternator from a falcon (AU I think). The v8's came out with the larger alternator.
I bought mine from my local auto elec and he just swapped over pulley's for me.
It almost bots straight in. I think I just had to make up a spacer for it.

I would like to know if there is any ...

He bought it second hand.

The motor was advertised at $3k but he ended up buying the entire Rangie for the same price.

I bought a 4.6 short motor about 2 years ago for $2k. I am just about to start a rebuild on it and will be installing some new HC pistons I bought. I got the pistons and rings ...

4.6 HC motor - comprssion

Does anyone know what compression to expect out of a 4.6 HC motor?

A friend just bought one 2nd hand. He is getting 150psi but does not know if this is normal.

Same here. I just ordered new calipers from padocks. It was much cheaper to do this than buying the conversion kit. I only ordered the standard Rangie calipers for Vented rotors.
Was just over $300 delivered.

I only know a couple of places that do it and the only one I would recommend is Les Richmond. Probably closest to you as well.
It is going to cost you plenty though. I was looking at getting my 4.6 done (just in case) and it is about $2k

With the 84 you are still getting the carby motor so no efi. The air compressor you can pick up for $35 from most wreckers

The smaller CV's did not come into until the 89 update.

The only thing I think it need is a rear bumper. It just doesnt quite look finished at the back.

That yellow ute looks awsome too, great work. I like the yellow, maybe thats what I should do my ute.

I might be wrong but I am guessing that it is not a thermo fan but the air con fans which are on the front side of the radiator.

My Rangie was always overheating until I put proper thermo's in it. The AU fans fit nicely, Seems to be better if they suck not blow! :P
And make sure the thermo's have ...

Here's a few suggestions based on the weaknesses I encountered:

When you have the body off the chassis, stengthen the top coil spring mounts, trailing arm mounts & radius arm mounts.
Make up/buy some beefy trailing arms.
Replace/rebuild the A-frame mount on the diff housing.
Replace & strengthen ...

I already have the Ashcroft 4.11 C&P so I will be keeping the axles and diffs I have.

It will aslo be running a ZF auto

Dancing Hippo Build-up...what would you do?

I have recently started a build-up of a 1987 Rangie. What I would like to get is as many opinions/ideas as possible as to what you would do to her.

It is going to be a weekend off-roader only and will carry over much of the gear I have on my other Rangie but I am going to spend the next year doing ...
