Re: Help me choose a Pajero.

For me the NJ does the trick. Although I think he might be telling porkies when he says it hasn't been offroad.
The NL are great units although from the sounds of it the LPG had been on it for over ten years (tank being tested). LPG systems on Pajeros should only be injected for efficiency otherwise ...

My apologies Wheelybin must have given you the impression I have a Triton.
Actually drive a Challenger but have test driven a few MN Tritons and get to study them real good.
Obviously can't help you with the info on the spring lift.

Yep, MN tub is just a longer version. Should bolt straight up.
And actually if I was buying an MN thats exactly what I would be doing.

Driven both and I believe the MN creams the ML. Power ,torque and fuel economy. The 2.5 is a more spritely engine once the lag is over with and it gets on song.
If your into 4wding a bit get a MN with a ML tub. Couta combination.

NH or NJ? NH has cable wheras NJ is electronic. Presuming it is a NJ the dash will have to come out. Might be just a loose plug going into the cluster.

I would have thought it would be under warranty! The Kenwood systems as far as I know are unique to Mitsubishi and you will find dealers don't get them repaired they replace the whole unit. I think you might be struggling to find anyone in Melb to repair it.

Yep agreed this is very rare indeed.
It is happening to some Gen 3 auto's as the t/case hangs way out and is exposed but this is due to impact damage.
The Challenger and earlier Jabbers have a decent bash plate there instead.
Can you tell us exactly where the cracks happened - extension housing ...

Should be good at those klms. If its a manual the box might be a bit knotchy also check the clutch as they have no adjustment. Auto's should have no problems unless the auto has been neglected.
Might pay to get it checked by a 4x4 pro before parting with the hard earned.

Of course between 1999 and 2003 Mitsubishi changed components in the Challengers. Basically from August 2000 they put rear coil springs instead of leaf springs, changed transmissions and had minor cosmetic changes. Most models from 2001 on has LSD diff as standard but earlier ones ...
