Re: Seized shocks?

A couple small dents on the outer shell, but nothing major, also rod seems straight too. Once I get a new one fitted I'll take to it with a grinder and see what went wrong inside.

Seized shocks?

Anyone ever had a seized shock absorber? I pulled one off recently to change the bushes and it is totally seized, even standing on it I can't get it to compress (or extend). Seems odd since I didn't notice any harshness or anything when driving before this? It's an Efs elite.

Howdy all. I'm travelling at the moment and am in need of a couple parts for my Gq. Was wondering if there's any north qlds who can recommend where to buy parts for nissans in townsville or close by are? I'm chasing some brake disc guards and pads. Also want to buy a pullout awning. Any suggestions ...

Re: GQ air vent problem

The flap moves freely when the cables disconnected, but with it connected it only has half travel. The cable itself doesnt seem long enough.....is it possible to connect the lever in a different position or something silly like that?

GQ air vent problem

Ive got a 96 GQ wagon and am in the process of fixing up a few little problems. One in particular thats annoying me is the air vent control lever wont fully slide along to the windscreen position. I jammed my head up under the dash and you can see the control mechanism easily, disconnected the cable ...

Cheap winches using rope

Just wondering if anyone knows with the cheap winches that Supercheap, Repco, Aldi etc sell, that you can safely run the Dyneema rope with them? I'm talkin about a 9500lb 5.5hp ones with the internal drum brake? I remember reading somewhere that some cannot run the rope because of excess heat build ...

Go genuine if the price is right, or any bearing supplier like CBC etc will have the right ones to suit, plus all the seals. They use Timken and NTN just like Nissan, but might be cheaper.

Im pretty sure early leaf sprung utes had 4.3, but were replaced by the 4.11 in the coilys after 2000.
I think all the factory turbo diesels were 4.11

Thanks for that, I've never tried using a tig. I have been looking at a unimig inverter setup for $375, just thought a mig might be better. Stupid noob question but can you tig normal mild steel? Because what ill be using it for will be no stainless work.

Im only speaking from truck experience here, but i'd think it'd be a similar setup. The way i see it is, you have a sensor reading on 1 side of the filter, and a sensor reading on the other. Theyre going to communicate and will tell the ecu the pressure difference across the filter. If the filter ...

Im guessing your far too remote to just pop down to an a/c shop, so yes it is possible with the right tools. Forget the legal side of it. First you'd need an evacuation pump, the vac the system down and boil off any leftover moisture etc, then you'd need a bottle of gas (R134a or if your car is old ...
