sierra fuel issue

Ok, so my 84 sj50 1.3 sierra won't fire or start in the morning due to no fuel in the carby. If I put a approx a tablespoon/serving spoon full of petrol in the top it starts immediately and will run and start fine all day. Alternatively if I tow it for about 100m it will eventually start and then ...

lockrite Q

Point's well taken guys and thanks for the input. I'v driven a 4runner, Hilux, Vitara and Sierra with Lockrite's and an LJ50 with a welded diff. While they are nothing like the airlockers I have in the GQ I have found them effective if you figure out how to drive on them. The vit belongs to a mate ...

lockrite Q

Yeah I'v done the welded thing before on a road registered LJ50. Welded one tooth in the sunwheels so it would still turn once before locking. It was downright horrible to drive. For the sake of a couple of hundred bucks I figured I would be more civilised with this one.

So what is involved in rims? It looks like these have 8 studs. What is involved in making custom rims for these?
What are the legalities?
Can I turn the insides out of some sunnies and weld in my own centers with different offset and and stud pattern?

All help continues to be appreciated

Thanks for the info, it's great to find out what I'm getting into before I start forking out $$$. Interesting thoughts on the engineers certificate. I know my GQ which is fully engineered here in NSW would never pass in VIC or QLD, but I haven't gone as far as portals. And that was four years ago ...

Good point on the axle wrap. I'v never had enough horse power to worry about it before but I guess the extra leverage created by the portals will add to the strain. 1. Will I only have to worry about axle wrap on the rear? 2. Are these things oversprung or undersprung? 3. What are the chances of ...

Hey thanks for some great info. The advantages I am considering are 1. Pumpkin is on the right side - no extra engineering involved here. 2. Lighter than mogs - mogs would be pretty heavy for a zook 3. narrower than mogs - it's only a zook Are these correct assumptions? It seems I could 1. make ...

Just thinking out loud. Does anyone know much about these? Who is running them and what are they under? Where can you get them? How strong are they? Where do you get parts if you break them? How much do they cost? How wide compared to a Hilux diff? etc. What kind of money are they? What stud pattern ...

Modded Jack

I helped a mate mod his 02 V6 Jack over xmas. We did 2" lift, Ball Joint Flip, F & R Lockers, 32" mudders on 15 X 8 rims with a toyota offset, Sliders & rear Bar. Hear are some issues we faced 1. To get the front diff centre out we had to remove the whole diff assembly which means taking out the ...

Lifting current model Hilux

My mate has a new flat tray dual cab hilux and has asked me advice on lifting and bigger tyres. I suggested 2" body and 2" suspension and 33's as I have used this formula on 4runner's and Hilux's before. 1. Will the same formula work on the current model? 2. Are there any particular hastles to watch ...
