the 1HDFT is the multivalve turbo diesel found in late model 80 series and early 100 series. They are a very good and strong motor and still mechanically injected which makes them easier for a conversion. the 6.5 chev is a good swap BUT it is all going to depend what you want out of it .... IMO the 6.5 Diesel revs hard like a petrol but the redline is around 3800RPM so it doesnt have the top end you would expect . if you want a highway cruiser or a rock crawler the its definately a good choice ...
