GU 4.5 into a GQ

I have a GQ 4.2 petrol carby and I suspect that one of the valves may have receded into the head or is burnt. I am going to do a compression test to see what cylinder is the problem. It is fairly low mileage but it has been on LPG for most of its life. The heads are fairly expensive to reco I have ...

Re: To super charge or not to super charge.

A mate turbo'd his 4.5 and put a rod through the block on over boost and lean mixture. Unless you know what you are doing I would steer away from adding boost with the petrol motor. Diesel is another matter as a turbo is something that they thrive on. An engine that is designed for low end torque is ...

the police radars are equipped to detect if you are using a radar detector. The cops can and do strip your car to find them to if they are concealed. not worth the risks IMO Wonder if they have to put it all back together again if they don't find one......... ..and we keep all the coins we find ...

Mate towed a heavy tandem trailer to NSW today to pick up my car that had broken down. Left Frankston at 0925 and arrived there at 1350. He then towed the car back to Vic and you wouldn;t even know it had a load on board. 20 litres per 100 kilometres with the load. Land cruiser 200 series V8 diesel ...

Re: Gots me a new car!

You're right about the Japanese manufacturing probs. A dealer told me today that a Toyota dealer who normally shifts 70 new cars a month now has a quota of only 15 cars per month, as that is all the factory can supply him. I guess good second hand equivalent vehicles will hold/increase in value ...

Re: Tyre Placards - aftermarket option?

On GQ's they are on the glovebox lid...mine is. Aren't they dated? Mine is dated 07/93 Any others may clash with your rego build details. Just on the side: Now mine has a tyre placard but it does not reflect the tyre options and probably relates to the standard wheel pack. It does not reflect the ...

If you're charged rego based on number of cylinders, and you have a V8 that is sometimes a 4, do you get a partial discount on your rego?

I look at doing the same thing except with a slightly smaller speaker. When I went down to Jaycar to get the bits to do it, they had small speakers for about $12 that plug in using a headphone jack. The one I got was about 50x50mm and is fairly loud. Just a thought and it will be a lot easier then ...

Mate bought a cheap chinese brand jobby...$180 light weight and cuts well.

My Stihl 076 is too heavy, kicks like a mule when starting. Great for the big stuff but over engineered for the camping wood.

I don't know the ins and outs, but I gather that the way an RCD will work in this kind of case is not the same as with a house where the earth is staked to the... earth. Evil thoughts Scott..and I am usually the skeptical one. My mate's friend's marriage failed and the friend 's wife took the Pajero. Mate was storing some gear for him but he moved to Sydney leaving the goods with my mate. It has all the brackets and has a built in perspex emergency hatch.
