In japan, both 3 door, and 5 door versions of the prado were made. In Australia, only the 5 door versions were sold by toyota.

Any 3 door versions have been imported under the 'low volume import' scheme, or '15 yr old - classic' scheme. (Like the Surfs that are around).

As far as I know, neither ...

If your talking about the Aussie sold 95 series prados (1996-2002), then the
answer is no. The brake disks and calipers are too large, and need the 16" rim.

A lot of this depends on how important the 'sleeping in the back' is to you.

There's plenty of room in a troopie for this, so no hassles there. I had
a surf before (think turbo diesel forerunner) and with the back seats folded
down flat I could sleep in it (I'm 6'3" tall). I've got a 95 series ...

Run a PC1700 (800+ CCA) in a petrol prado. Single battery, not dual.
Leave the engel running overnight, plenty of grunt to start the motor the next morning no problems at all (big reserve capacity in the battery). Fully charged up in about 15mins of driving.

The thing I can't figure out with Toyota, is why they continue to use the LSD's that they do. They do make some bloody good diffs that would be ideal.

My other car is a toyota soarer. It has a torsen type LSD (Torque Sensing). Basically the more torque aplied, the tighter it locks. This is all done ...

There are some good suspension sytems out there for prado's.
Depends whther yours is a 90 series or a 120 series.

Best source of info I've found are the prado specific forums which can be found at http://www.lcool.org/egroups.html

Hope it helps.

Depends on what you mean by the 'types'.

Do you mean the differences between an RV, a GXL, etc or
between the aussie delivered and low volume import prados.

For more (and definitely prado biased) info, it might be worth
checking out the Prado 90 Series group on yahoo.

Hi there,

I've got a 3.4L auto Prado myself.

When I was looking to purchase, I found that the 2.7L drove OK on the road, but as soon as I put it in a bit of soft sand, the lack of grunt was dramatic. The 3.4L just powered through the same soft sand patch.

The independent front end doesn't ...
