Thanks mate. I added up all the brakes, and it comes to $350 @ Suziwest. I can either get the muffler welded, or a new one for $100 So all in all it's not *too bad* One I'm most afraid about is the engine leaks. Maybe that's why my car can't seem to go over 90km/hr. Piece of shit is pissing me off ...

How bad is my RWC?

Hi guys, went for an RWC today on my Vitara, and it came back with quite a list. I wasn't expecting as such... but so go the woes of owning a car. Things that need to be done are: Engine oil leaks - cam and crank seals possibly. Rear wheel cylinders are leaking. Rear brake shoes are worn out and ...

Haha, that's quite a possibility, as I still have my stock tyres and stock front bar. But honestly, I just want to sell the whole car quickly. I'd sell it for $5000 without RWC and also include soft-top hardware + near new black soft-top ( cost $600 3 months ago ) along with the fibreglass top. and ...

Guide: How to fill up your oil yourself.

Hi guys, I know this is probably the most basic topic out there, but this is some information I compiled while learning about the subject myself. I haven't had my car for very long ( first car ) and although my dad explained this to me through grunting, I had to go through it again to understand ...

Not sure what my sister has to do with this, but you are right, hoping a Feroza top fits a Vitara seems like a pretty stupid idea when I think about it. Bloody hard to find these Vitara glass tops in Australia though, almost as much of a pain in the ass as having to take everything out of the car ...

Seems impossible to find a vitara hardtop, but not so hard to find feroza ones.

thanks in advance

lol, by the FT I think he means F* tight.

After reading all this bs about cross threading and rattle guns overtightening tyres, I would much rather put them on myself.

Imagine being in the middle of nowhere and unable to change a tyre. Sounds like the start of a B grade horror movie to me...

I have a Suzuki Vitara, so I can get 235's in with minimal modding. Decided on the MTR's as they have a good reputation, was wondering if there were cheaper tyre places out there that I didn't know about.

Some people say the further the suburb you are willing to go out, the cheaper they are.

Melbourne - Cheapest tyre place for MTR's in 235/75/15's?

Hi guys, I've been quoted around $207 for Goodyear MTR's in a tyre size of 235/75/15 and was wondering, does anyone know a tyre place around Melbourne that does them cheaper ? I've also been quoted a wheel alignment for $45 ( This is all from Beaurepaires ) Any info greatly appreciated! Saving ...

Haha will do, thanks for all the help guys.

Sorta got hooked because, everyday I drive to work I go down Beach road in port melbourne, and I always see this black vit there on chunky 235's, and some pretty mean alloys.

Is that anyone heres' car ?

Nice, thanks beast! I still don't get how you worked that out, but I guess you're just calculating the extra width from each side. So I have 40mm of room, and the space used is 36mm tread, I have 4mm of free space? Sounds kinda close  Maybe I should consider 1" coil spacers, and maybe a cheapo ...

Sorry for bringing up an old thread, but better than starting a new thread. I've been told by most its fine putting on 235's on a Vitara without any mods, ( full compression their is minor rubbing, which I probably won't achieve ) But what about a 235/75/15 with a very aggressive tread? ( i.e ...

I don't have a 1.3, I have a 1.6 carb Vitara. It's in a pretty bad way, have to push the pedal all the way flat to the floor to get any kind of acceleration whatsoever. I was driving on the freeway not long ago, and a JLX ( same model as mine ) cept it was EFi, totally whooped me, I couldn't have ...

In my prev post I said I thought it was expensive to buy a supercharger kit for $2000, I was wrong, it costs $3000! Not knowing if that's expensive or not, but for $3000 I could buy a whole other Vitara. I might look at every other option of increasing acceleration power, before I reach the point of ...

How much is a supercharger for a Vit? Is it the same as the Sierra ones ( talking carby's here ) I saw supercharger kit at suzisport for something like $2000, which seems kinda high as my car is only worth twice that much. :) If they're really more like $1000 I would possibly consider it. Any ideas?

Hey Beast, I just reread your post and you recommend against getting 31"S, I think I should heed that experience and the most I should go is 29.7" or 30"

with 31"s it's easier to break axles ?

Is there anyway I can get 31" on a Vitara without hardly doing anything at all? I know you can bash the firewall, lift the body, or do a suspension lift or a combination of them all, but people seem to be differeing their opinion on whats the max you can fit under a Vit without any modification. So ...

I drive an old carbie Vitara, and the reversing while rolling forward technique definitely works. I dang near hit my gf's car everytime I back out of the driveway as I am waiting for reverse to fully engage.

It's a very wierd sensation moving forward while accelerating in reverse though.

Yes, bolts are a bad way to go. I can imagine scraping my head while installing them. I think press studs are pretty good, although I would want a press stud head that is larger than the base, that way I could have a hole in the fabric, and put the press stud head over the hole. Velcro might also be ...

Hmm, or I could just glue some press studs to the interior and save myself a lot of hassle.

But I'm still curious about the bolts though.
