So I guess it was only the upper models that got the angle meters (not that I could ever see any use for them). I like the idea of the tach in the centre of the dash, it seems a tad small though. Is it still clear and easy to see at a quick glance? My interior (1984 HJ60 G pack) is the same as Joel ...

MAxxis Bighorns

I had a set of the new Maxxis MT-762 Bighorns fitted in the 235/85R16 size yesterday. I took a few pics in the carport in bad light, but they'll suffice for now. First impressions driving home on tarmac are that they're noisier than my 31x10.5R15 BFG ATs were, but aren't as noisy as I was expecting ...

I've always been led to believe that extractors and quality exhaust should boost power slightly as well as improving economy as you are making the engine breathe more efficiently...hence making more power from less fuel.

Help with Maxxis Bighorn availability

Is anyone on here in the industry or otherwise know for sure whether Maxxis MT-762 Bighorn tyres ARE available in Aus in 235/85R16 size? I've been told by my local agent that he can get them, but have heard from others that this size is NOT available in Aus at present. I can't get any info on the ...

I was advised by a tech bloke in ACT rego that 120kph speed rating is not acceptable to them and even retreads are 140.

I'm not claiming you're wrong, but on that advice I decided that Maxxis bighorns would be the better bet for the same price and a 140 speed rating.

If you choose to do the engine up and not get an exchange unit you should clean the engine water galleries and everything else out a few days before the job. I use a product called Restore which I replace the coolant with. You mix it with normal tap water. It's diluted basically phosphoric acid ...

If you're talking about the M/P Trekkers, i looked at them recently but they're only speed rated to 120kph which may mean they won't be legal.

I've decided to go for Maxxis Bighorn muddies in 235/85R16 instead, which will go on as soon as I have the funds.

you could check out the pro comp X-terian they are a agresive tyre with a similare tread pattern to the baja claw, but they are radial and last up to 65 thousand km's on road. they are also pretty cheap compared to others. Unfortunately the Simex MP trekker is out due to the speed rating being too low to be legal in the ACT. My next choice would be the Michelin XZL but they are a ridiculous $318 each for 7.50R16! I'd like to get something different from the standard BFG MT or GY MTR, I want something a bit different ...

Tyre choices?

I currently run BFG All Terrain 31 10.5 R15 on my HJ60 land cruiser and have the full set of five original rims sitting in the shed. These spare rims are 7.50R16LT. My question is (and I've done a google) is there much available in this size in a fairly aggressive pattern? I found an Olympic "steel ...

2H injection pump adjustment

My 2H is running extractors, larger exhaust and snorkel. It gets excellent economy (averaging 11-12L per 100kms) and only blows black smoke visible in the mirrors when I rev it to nearly 3000rpm. It also is gutless, even by 2H standards. I suspect that it is running on the lean side. I would like to ...

Regarding the engineering...sure it costs more and is a hassle, but you have a prang and your vehicle is found to be illegal, not only do you lose your chance of an insurance claim, you could be in a heap of trouble. I'm certainly no expert. My 60 has what I think are Ultimate Suspension springs in it...don't know anymore than that. It doesn't sit high, but should be high enough to clear 33s.

Old man Emu, Ultimate, etc...any reputable brand kit will give you about 2in over standard.

I personally reckon the SOA on 60s is too high and looks OTT. Besides, you don't need it, a half decent spring lift, bigger tyres and lockers would do more for your truck than a spring over. IMHO, etc. I know that someone who recently left KAOS recommends against it...makes 'em too tippy. Also, with ...
