Re: what chainsaw to buy for camping & 4WD trips

That's what I thought.

Yeah, its a mag case. The Stihl is the same price as I can get the Shindaiwa for.
It will only be for around home and for camping, but still, I'd like something that will last.

(Not like my last Poulan!)

Might have to give the Shindaiwa a crack.

Re: what chainsaw to buy for camping & 4WD trips

Has anyone had any experience with Shindaiwa? I am looking at the 446s.
Seems pretty good, Japanese made, all aluminium case and the Australian distributer is here in Melbourne.
I haven't used one, but from all reports they do seem pretty grunty. I am comparing it to the MS250 Stihl, which seems ...

Re: What happened to the TRD Hilux

I think they were hardly selling so no point in keeping them.

A bit of wank factor really, and we already have commodores for that :finger:

agreed. They could have at least had low range :bad-words:

I think you will find they did have low range.

Re: 1fz engine whine

I usually put a long screwdriver on the bolt/nut of the pulley and put my ear up to it. You will hear a whine from the bearing straight away if its the cause of the problem. ;)

From my knowledge of internal beadlocks, they are quite "hit and miss".
I've heard stories of people having nothing but trouble from them, and others who have run them for years and only had minor issues.
I have never run them personally, but I do know people who have. They have had drama's with ...
