Re: What size water pump for intercoler

You don't want the water to pump too fast for a W2AIC. I use a Bosch Cobra pump on mine and it has been to hell and back and still going strong. Flows about 25L/m IIRC. These pumps are used in a few of the OEM vehicles with W2AIC set ups. I got mine from Frozen Boost but they can be sourced locally ...

Re: Ls1 into fzj80 auto conversion plus fuel economy

If your auto is the earlier hydraulic gearbox you shouldn't have any issues getting it to work. On the other hand, if it's electronic, it'll be pretty hard without a stand alone computer for the gearbox. I use the Compu-Shift in mine and it works perfectly. The best part is you can put in any engine ...

Don't think it can be done. When I converted mine to auto (A442F electronic) I ran the compu-shift trans computer and it works a treat. Wholesale Auto sells them for a pretty penny :)

Re: help wanted please guys

The 1FZFE is very hard on exhaust manifolds, especially mild steel units. They fail mainly because they don't have the expansion section to cater for the heat. Whatever you build needs to be a 2pc unit if you want it to last. Safari wouldn't have gone to all the extra trouble of doing so if it ...

Metabo make a really nice high torque drill perfect for hole sawing and other applications where torque is preferred over speed (about 75nm IIRC). I forget the model designation but its around the $350 mark and will last you a life time. You will kill a cheap ass drill in now time when used in high ...

With the car idling, hold a piece of paper against the exhaust outlet. If the piece of paper is blown away and sucked back in quickly, then it's a good chance it's a stuffed exhaust valve.

Re: How to store water tanks?

Work out the volume of the tank then dilute the required amount of Bi-Carb Of Soda in hot water and pour into tank then fill to rim with fresh water. This cleans off any crap that may have already started to grow and keeps it sanitised when not in use. Simply drain and flush it a couple of times ...

When I removed mine, I gave it a pretty good clean using those $2cans of Export degreaser from Supercheap (best degreaser ever I recon). Re: clunk clunk clunk what is it

I doubt it's the clutch fork because if it was stuffed, you wouldn't be able to disengage the clutch.

If you push the clutch in and it makes a noise, it's usually a sign of a worn throw out bearing. If the clutch is engaged and it's making noise, it's often a sign of a worn/stuffed input shaft ...

Re: under-bonnet temps (cooling)

Since fitting the EFI, have you had the engine dyno'd to see what the AFR's are? - if it's running too lean, combustion temps will be up and placing too much effort on the cooling ability of the oil and the coolant.

Sometimes, overheating issues are not directly related to a coolant system ...

Has this 'overheating ' been an issue right from the start or only just recently?

If it's the latter, then the cooling system is most likely at fault and in need of attention/repairs.

Well a bonnet scoop isn't going to solve your problems no matter how many fit.

When was the last time the cooling system was checked / repaired??? Clogged radiator or partially stuffed thermostat are the most likely causes.

I wouldn't drive it too far without getting it fixed - an engine rebuild ...

Re: help with UNI joints

Usually placing a suitably sized socket over the end cap and giving it a few good hits will see it come loose. Also try to set up the driveshaft so there is no bouncing or other movement when you hit the socket - a few blocks of wood should do the trick.

If that fails, you can set them up in a vice ...

First of all, you need to make sure it's dead - just because it stopped because it has water in it doesn't mean it's dead, especially petrol engines.

Unless you have obvious signs the engine is ruined (such as a piston hanging out the side of the block, there are a heap of threads here showing you ...

I've never had any issues with either Dynamica or ROH steel rims, both have withstood significant punishment. I believe the Dynamica rims are used on many of the Landcruisers in the mines as they have the highest load carrying capacity and are certified as such.
