Led driving lights - watts/amps query

Hi guys. I bought two led driving lights off eBay for $400 new, 90w each, 10-30volt capable, 18x 5w leds. Installed them last night, with one 40amp relay and 6mm wire. I suspected they weren't bright enough for the claimed 90watts so I started investigating. Measured the current draw across the ...

Alternator upgrade mk triton

I have a 2002 2.8 Td triton (4m40 engine) which has a factory 65amp alternator. Judging by my mileage (280000km) and heavy use of the truck, the alt should just about cark it soon. I'm also charging duel batteries in the engine bay and a battery in the work trailer amd run engel 24/7. So i thought ...

Re: Perfectly good Clutch stopped working

Okay. Had head replaced last week, also bent rod in piston 3. Did cooling system flush amd radiator overhaul. Replaced all brake pads, rear wheel cylinders, rear drums bla bla bla. Slave cylinder replaced as rubber boot was bulging with fluid. Problem: 1. start car, put clutch in, shift into any ...

Also just remembered a Dribble of watery black liquid came out with the bolt, kinda smelt like brake fluid, definitely not Diesel engine oil.

Perfectly good Clutch stopped working

I was poking around looking for a block drain plug for the cooling system when I pulled out a bolt. Realizing it was not the drain plug I just screwed it back in and went and found the right one. Now the car will not move an inch when it is in gear. Wtf have I done?! It's the grade 7 bolt hanging ...

Re: How do I remove front axle in Triton?

Can only see the clip on the right one. The left has a little more spliined shaft showing in the centre of the diff (than the right one) but no clip visible.
I'll try and give them both a good crack tomorrow.
I've done the cv boots before but don't remember having any trouble removing the left cv.

Re: How do I remove front axle in Triton?

Okay, I did try that, but I'll give it a decent go this time.
Also, shouldn't the left hand CV just pull out of the diff? If so, Its a bit stuck.

How do I remove front axle in Triton?

Hi. I have a 2002 Mk which I'm in the process of overhauling front suspension bushes, cv boots, front wheel bearings and couple of uni joints. At this point RH steering knuckle is off, cv removed. I discovered a flogged out bearing at the end of the front right hand axle housing. To replace it, it ...

Has anyone heard of anything like this before. I have not changed the rims yet, but surely there are plenty of fourbies running wider offsets without all the hassles i'm having.

Has anyone come across any prices yet? (sorry if it's already been mentioned, i only scanned through) If its anything like mountainbike tyres, they'll be nearly double the price! ie. a steel beaded mountainbike tyre is around $35 and a kevlar bead (heaps lighter weight but still strong) is $70 plus ...

yes, I understand that. So 25 mm could be enough to help prevent premature wear of the balljoints?
I have not had any experience with playing around with different wheel offsets and their consequences.

Scott,

Have a look at the clearance between the top ball joint and the rim. It only measures about 40mm. Would it make the wheel too close to that stationary part if I used a smaller offset?

Is it illegal to remove the back seats?

Is it illegal to remove the back seats of my dual cab ute to fit more stuff in?

Someone mentioned to me the other day that it might be, so I had a trawl around on the rta website and found nothing.

BTW, I'm in NSW.

Wow. That makes them look even worse, because that same suspension shop supplied and fitted the tyres as well. So you'd assume they would have checked out the rims along the way.

Thanks for your help Scott. I'll let you know how I go with it.

That was all by a suspension specialist who does suspension for all sorts of high performance cars apparently.
I've just started going to a new mechanic and they seem pretty cluey. I'll get them to have a close look at it next week when it goes in for a log book service.

I'm running 31x10.5 Nankang ATs on 15'' sunnies. The top ball joints were genuine and cost 120 or 140. The problem one in the bottom, they first put a non-greasable one in, then a greasable one, then the grease nipple fell out when I went to grease it one day. So I went back and they had to grind ...

Triton Balljoints wearing quickly

Hi guys. I had all 4 suspension ball joints replaced in my 2002 triton 14 months ago, along with a few other bushes.
