Outer Limits 4x4 Board

So i am about to clean a dirty old diff centre up to fit and i was just wondering what methods and products people use to go about this???

p.s i dont have a parts cleaner sink.. i wish

hey all..

im replacing the rear diff in my 45 and im just checking to make sure i get the ratio right. im currently running 4.11 diffs and the one i am about to put in has 9x37 stamped on the crown wheel. Is this diff a 4.11 or a 3.7????

I remember seeing a thread on here a while ago about modifying the transfer selector plate(the one that stops you from using low-hi 2wd) on a fj40/45. I think twisty may have done this but i cant find it anywhere!

Does anyone have an idea of where i could find it??

yer i do but sample is on the side where my radiator hoses are and yer.. looks like i will have to pull one out. bugger

Gday all, I am trying to find somewhere that sells 2f engine mount bolts(as in the 3 bolts that hold the top of the mount onto the block) but i am having alot of trouble sourcing them. So the front and rear shafts both have to be shortened yes?? or does the front have to be longer??

Does anyone have any idea at all at how much someone would be looking at to get this done??

what about the rear shaft. does this need to be modded if coverting a 4 speed to a 5 speed on a 45??

ok kewl, I was just wondering it being is a 77 model i originally had 3.7's but i changed front diff to one with disc brakes which had 4.1's. Me not knowing this blew a front diff and a transfer case and just cant remember what diff i changed.

Well i have blown up my rear diff and am replacing it this week. I have pulled out the smashed one but before i put in my new one i just want to make sure on the diff ratios. How can i tell what the ratio is on the one originally in there just by looking at it?? cheers also would it be a good idea ...

had some carnage on friday night and smashed my rear diff.. am getting a rear 60 series diff and i am just wanting to make sure that it will fit.. i have 4.11's in the front should they be the same?? what ratio's do 60 series run?? should it bolt straight in with same flanges for tailshaft?? cheers ...

just finished one on a mates 80. It was pretty easy thing to do realli. He got it from 4wd systems the only problem we had was trying to remove a bearing from the gear that is replaced.

ok so oil... why would the shop that rebuilt them put grease in them???

well i just sold a fully rebuilt one on ebay and the guy has picked it up and taken it home, pulled it apart and now is telling me its full of grease and not oil and it has cost him 6 dollars in degreaser and an hour to clean it. and is trying to tell me onli one seal looks new. this has never been ...

should a 1977 fj45 steering box(non power steering) have oil or grease in it???

yer i like that last set. but i would like to see a way of it done where there is protection of the motor ect.

no fuses are blown but the headlight fuse is to hot to touch should it be like this?
