If it was a new engine,it might be crud left over when manufactured. If it was a boneyard engine, it might be dirt that collected in any open passages. I've seen wasp nests in expansion tanks after it was flushed from a water pump hiding hole :D

OK, I already stuck my foot squarely in it! I was assuimng the 3.5 you were referencing was using Lucas injection management (hot wire). Judging from the other responses, a flapper style was being discussed-something not often encountered in this hemisphere. I'll be certain to be polite as I'm new ...

Shopboy runs a 3.5 w/3.9 ECU. There are some very minor differences in the wiring dealing with air conditioning if memory serves.

I doubt it would be of sufficient value to justify the time.
