Unfortunately it looks like none of these turbos are Ball bearing I am sorry. The numbers I get them to identify as are:

V6 0198J
14411-54C00
7465997-1

Is a Journal bearing T28. With the 0.86 rear housing I do not think it would be successful on your TD42.

I am 100% certain that the two ZD patrol ones are not ball bearing. I have pulled a few apart before and none have been ball bearing. Nothing I can find on the net states they are ball bearing.

The bearing you can see looking up the oil drain is because in those turbos they have a single journal ...

the 724639-2 is a standard ZD30 turbo, It is VNT and not ball bearing.

One of the turbos you have there is a ZD30 Navara turbo.

The other two look to be off SR20s, and may be one of them is the ball bearing one.

If you PM me the part numbers I will check what they are for you.

The GT Garrett turbos have the oil restrictor built into the bearing housing.

What vehicle is it on, Are you 100% sure there are no boost leaks anywhere. I have heard some really strange noises made by boost leaks especially as boost went over a certain level.

A GT35 will be far to large on a TD42 unless it has alot of work done. For a daily driver there are some much better options, that would also be cheaper and more compact.

All gauges dropped out while driving and would come back when they felt like it.

I took it to an instrument repairer, who sent it to someone in Sydney and had the cluster repaired. Cost me about $300 to repair.

Lengthening the rod will decrease boost, but it will depend on the boost pressure of the actuator itself. The rod pushes outwards from the canister to open the wastegate. Therefore the shorter that rod is the further it has to travel to open the wastegate.

The shorter you make that rod the longer ...
