Outer Limits 4x4 Board

I currently run a yota fj40 with a 350 chev etc. It's very costly on the fuel front. I was thinking of going something smaller. I love Lj80 too but they're gutless really I just wanted to find out if it was very tricky to wind them up a bit. If it was worth it really.

Hi there quick q? how tricky is it to replace the engine and running gear in an Lj80 to sierra gear or is there a better option to upgrade? who does work like this?

call linquip in brisbane. they do these conversions on a daily bases they'll know the legalities of it all.

do it yourself... u'll learn so much more, about everything. Just start unbolting and remember what u've done, it's not rocket science. if u fuck it, just bolt it up the way u unbolted it and get someone one else to fix it properly.

got it!!! just needed a little encouragment. the retaining bolt was missing so it was confusing me. i couldn't work out how the drum was being held on. fuck me the brake was rooted... cheers anyway!!

how do i get the drums off at the rear of my 40. got the wheel off can't get the drum off... please don't tell me i'm stupid!!!

i had to get a new bleeder valve for the front drivers side, wasn't bleeding properly. interestingly when i put my foot on the brakes the engine lifted off idle and a big puff of white smoke billowed out the exhaust. this problem has stopped now, but it definately sounds like a vaccuum pump issue ...

ok! so i changed the brake master cylinder and have bled the brakes on my fj40...(82 model, discs on the front) why are they still not working properly? are there other ajustments that are required after bleeding them? also is there a gasket required between the master cylinder and the brake booster ...

yes it has factory ps. it's an 82 model

hey, i remember reading a thread on changing the leaf springs on a 40 series to a mix of 60 , 75 and 40 series leaves. (i think!).... if you can give me directions to that thread i'd love it (i've had a scout around...no go) or any advice would be accepted with a plum... i think i'm going the swap ...

why r there such handling differences with a 5 link as apposed to a 3 link????

hey y'all out there... are the bearings in the diffs of a bj42 the same as the bearings in an fj40??? could one be swapped out to the other???
