the gutless one you drove would have been a 4 speed auto yeh? the 5 speed was a massive improvment over the old 4 speed in off the mark performance.

sounds like a cracked head to me, soon as it works hard it opens up and blows exhaust gas onto the coolant. so be fine going easy but under load warms up.

Will a 1HDT injector pump fit and work on a 1hz? i have a turbo intercooled 1hz and i need to have the pump rebuilt, and a compensator fitted, so i was thinking would a 1hdt pump work? would deliver more fuel too id think. Thats why i asked the question, no sring lift is going to clear them if the bump stops are still origional, because in theory it can still go back to where it was if it had no spring lift. unless the shocks are acting as bump stops.

Best way of clearing 37's on an 80?

Hey guys im looking for the best way to clear 37's on an 80 series, at the moment it has 3" long travel kit in it with 12" travel shocks.

Will lowering the bump stops 2" be enough, or should i just body lift it?

$200 for the braided water and oil lines
$100 for plumbing the intake rubber bends and go to a exhaust shop for their cut offs to use as well

3 or 4" of lift and 2" bump stop spacers. may need longer front arms to stop them scrubbing on the front. But if you go the 2plus 2 option it will solve that problem.

94 80 series dts turbo 3" exhaust
3" lift and 33's usual stuff like winch and draws
got 570km out of 85L on the weekend so thats 14.91L/100km thats about the best its ever got.

for a good 3" exhaust you will pay upto a grand.

all the kits are pritty good, apart frm turbo glide, they use an adapter and use the standard manafold, seems cheap and nasty to me.

DTS or Safari are the pic of the bunch, look at the type of turbo used and if its water cooled or not then work on ...

dts and capa are the same kits. IMO there all going to be much the same, 3" exhaust helps allot gets the turbo boosting sooner and lets them rev. Denco apparently boost very low but dont have the top end as the other kits. to really make it go well look at custom with a ball bearing turbo....

another thing to look at is the turbo used, 4wd systems which is a denco set up has a non watercooled turbo, they work just as well, but you really should have a turbo timer fitted as hot shut down damages is more likly to happen then if it was water cooled. also long term i dont see them lasting as ...

is an imobiliser that hard to get around? i would have thought if you worked out the wiring of it you should be able to bridge it. or are they computer controlled and the chip in the key talks to the computer not just the ignition?

every month i see them advertised in 4x4 traider for around 7 grand. bloody cheap i reckon, i think most people are scared off as they are computer controled. i cannot see them been any harder to fit then a modern fuel injected petrol motor, just have to be sure the gearbox will mate up to it ...

the v8 came out in 1998 in the gxv it was 4 speed auto only, then in 2000 i think when the turbo diesel came out they stopped the v8 all together. then in 02 when they dropped the live axle and 6 cyclinder petrol they brought the v8 back and was avaliable in the GXL and sahara.

you need to have the oil return as close to the top of the sump as possible, you dont have you pull the sump off you can punch a hole and tap a thread into it.

as the others said oil pick up is the sender just next to the filter ad a T peice and away you go.
