bringing this post back from the dead.. My GV developed an oil leak from the front of the sump on the way down to a weekend away at Kangaroo Valley (great way to start a trip).. so I dropped it into the mechanics and while its being fixed for the leak the Timing chain is being seen to. I mentioned ...

Cooper STT's! I had BFG AT's on my Feroza and the STT's on my GV are 100% better on the road, in the wet, in the bush, in the mud. BFG AT's used to slip all around on the road and I'm finding the STT's are much better on the road in the wet. They are a bit noisey but thats what the stereo is for. I ...

I also have a 2000 2.6 GV, with a 2inch raise and Cooper STT's I get around 11-13 around town and I'm not a grandma driver. Aircon adds about 1 to the figures.
The new V6 GV is a 2.7 and its much thirstier but also has considerably more power. Figures around 12-15 would be expected.

I can live with the noise but there is no chance of selling it like it is.

Fordy1, what castrol magnatec did you use? 10w40? How noisey was it before? constant? When I bought my GV it was quiet then after the first oil change it got real noisey. I used Castrol Edge 5w30. Next I tried Shell helix 10w30 made it a bit quieter. Next I tried Penzoil 10w30 ( I think, Bit of a ...

Hi Murcod, My vote is the OME. I had a look around at most of the options when I lifted my GV but went with the OME full package. Things just work better when you use the matching parts. Overall lift is modest 1.5cm front and back but the handling is 100% better. Everytime i drive off a gutter under ...

Guess I will see you over in the Suzuki section. The XL-7 is just a stretched grand vitara, same as mine. There is a few things to look out for when buying but I guess you know them already.

Put in the Old Man Emu full suspension and some decent tyres and you will be happy.

I went the whole OME upgrade, struts, shocks, coils. Its high enough to fit 225/75 muddies but only 30mm higher then stock.
Its pretty expensive but the ride is so much better. I'm happy I spend the money.

Its not as tough looking as the Feroza, YET!!
The 2.5L V6 is nice, still to put through a full tank so not sure of the mileage yet.
So I guess I'll be moving to the Suzuki section.

$4500 is the quote.

$2200 or labour, $1500 for parts.
Sounds like some structural damage for that amount of labour

Its sad to say but I think my feroza is dead. It had an altercation with a stopped truck last night. Its at the smash repairers waiting for a quote to be fixed or a write off notice. They didn't have to machine anything. All they did was change the pulley (which lines up perfectly) and they changed the plug on the back. That was a bit of mission.
