Get some rubber grease in a tube for reassembly.

How exactly did you check your water pump?

Is there good flow through the radiator (temperature drop from top to bottom).

What is the conidition of you coolant? When was it changed last?

Not something silly like air in the system?

I dont' think it has to be hot. You can check it hot or cold, and either way it should be somewhere between the low and high mark. Sump oil isn't a precise measurement.

I got one of the Airflow snorkels and although its not as streamlined as the safari models i quite like it. The design was improved and looks a lot better than the original they had and the quality looks really good now too.
Oh yeah and around $200 cheaper than a safari as well.

Be careful pulling that idler shaft out. I am nearly certain there is thrust washers on or near the end of it. ONLY pull it out as far as you must to replace the o ring.
