While redrilling/slotting the swivels sorts out the castor it doesn't do anything for the nose of the diff. For the propshaft (driveshaft?) to work at it's best the flanges at each end should be parallel to each other. Using corrected arms sorts out the castor and also moves the nose of the diff ...

Looking forward to seeing how the new format works out.... and trying to figure out how we can afford to do it again :) Gutted to see the Defender pull out, that must have been a contender for top 10. Good luck to all ! If anyone can email the stage instructions over to me it'd be useful to take a ...

Jack up one wheel so it's off the ground and free to spin, doesn't really matter which although you really want one you can see from the driver's seat :) Gently try and drive the Rangie away. If the diff lock is in it will try and move, if it's not it'll just sit and spin the lifted wheel, just don ...

I've written an XP app for touch screen use with Ozi, it sits over the top of the Ozi screen and lets you enter waypoints, set the zoom, goto a waypoint and a number of other functions using big on screen buttons suitable for finger operation. I've put it together for competition use mainly but it ...

I bought one of the "new" high output ARB compressors. The air tank on the compressor is much smaller than the older model it replaced. I added an 11 litre air tank in the end as it was the biggest I could fit under the floor. It seems to give about the right length of time to fill up the tank, not ...

No, because the LS1 has a forward pointing throttle body and the transmission is so much longer than the standard one there's hardly any room in there at all. I was so worried about the proximity of the rad to the front of the engine that I used a set of captive engine mounts that even in the event ...

Might be a location thing, in the UK 6k for a pair of unbreakable "bolt on" axles doesn't seem that bad. Defo compares well with the opposition especially since the pound died against the US dollar. A pair of Dynatrac axles will set us back around 9k and that's before you get around to modifying ...

Electrolytic corrosion is something that can happen on any car. You can check your own system pretty easily, if you put a voltmeter +ve probe into the top of the radiator without touching metal and connect the -ve probe to the battery negative you should get a maximum of 0.1V, anything above that ...

When the axles were first announced and discussed on LR4x4 Dave said he was aiming for around 6K GBP for the pair. Obviously those were early days but I'd guess they're aiming at getting them in at a competitive price.

On the LR4x4 thread, Dave posted that the knuckles/CV/stub mods will add 40mm track to each side of the axle.
I'm starting saving for a pair now !

I use a custom aluminium radiator, works really well and not had any probs with overheating. Did have a problem with overcooling on our way into Broken Hill though when i was struggling to get the engine up over 75C http://www.yorkshireoffroadclub.net/imagegallery/albums/userpics/10002/normal_108 ...

The vacuum advance on the RV8 dizzy is more for overrun purposes and has little to no effect on the ignition timing at high RPM under load. At wide open throttle under load the vacuum in ...

There are 2 different output shafts. The one for the Borg Warner viscous chain drive transfer box (as used on Range Rovers) has the shorter splines. The output shaft for the LT230 box has full length splines. You can use the full length LT230 version for both transfer box types but not the short ...

A common cause of this kind of problem is the fuel return pipe collapsing internally (the flexible sections) this restricts the return and increases the pressure in the fuel rail because the regulator can't do it's job properly. They usually run fine at high revs because you are burning the fuel ...

Assuming these are CCDA events, has anyone raised this with the CCDA ? Land Rover Defenders really aren't set up to have a fully internal cage, truck cab versions especially so. CCDA regs are pretty generic and little thought seems to have been given to the impact of some parts of the regulations on ...
