Re: Brake issues.

I'd have a close look at your front wheel bearing adjustment, and your rear brake adjustment.
If ether of these are out it will produce similar faults to what your describing.

Yep I'd check front bearings. If they are letting the wheel wobble then that pushes the pads back and the pumping brings ...

Re: Explain dual cases to me

Never run them.
But logic says you achieve normal low range by shifting either case into low. Actually, scratch that. The rear output off the front case would drive the input on the rear case.
Super low by moving them both into low.
Never had a lux, but assuming the cases are either rwd only or fwd ...

Re: toyota hilux gearbox

They are all the same box (R15#f) mate (except the surf didn't have the 2.8) in the surfs and V6 4Runners, I'm not sure about the T/D Hilux's they might be a W series box (some one here will know). The R series boxes are stronger then the W's

The R15#f are more then strong enough for a turbo 2.8 ...

Try find a Turbo deisel Surf or V6 4Runner box they are a bigger stronger box, The surf box will bolt straight to the motor (right bell housing) not sure about the box x-member you might need the surf one. I'm not sure if the bell housing from the V6 box will fit.

Surf's and 4Runners are the same vehicle in most respects, the Surfs ussually have a higher standard of trim and turbo dieseasels in them. The 3.0l os the same as what is found in early Prados and T/D Hiluxs (1997-2004??). Many of the mechanical (and body) parts for them can still be bought brand ...

Re: Radar detectors ?

I had a few I got from canada when I was younger. Until lasers came into affect. But you can get laser jammers. The cops usually aim for a flat verticle surface (centre mass). 3 at the front and 2 at the rear. Makes you car invisible to lasers. It can not get a reading at all. This includes speed ...

Do you guys run seperate oil coolers? They sound like a hard engine to keep cool.

I'd imagine that in a big engine bay that the heat can escape from they'd be pretty easy to cool, but the bloody things just about fill the entire Bay

And I did have a big oil cooler on it early on and it made very ...

I had one in my 4Runner with a 1uz and it was great in the bush and on-road but it still ran hot on the beach, but I would point it into the wind and it would cool down pretty quickly. I was running a 3000cfm 16" electric fan if that helps at all

have a look here http://www.toyotasurf.asn.au/forum/index.php all the info you need is there. the factory 2.8's are all Aust. delivered 4Runners, the Surfs are all Imports and most have a 2.4ltr Turbo (2LT or 2LT-E) or 3.0ltr turbo (1KZ-TE) and normally a higher level of trim. yes it will work.

just about anything will, the 5L will be at the easier end of the scale and easy to engineer but obviously needs more electrics than the 3L.

Why does it need more electrics then the 3L they are basically the same engine with bigger capacity, still has the mechanical injector ...

Holden 308 would need to be full time gas.

Holden EFI can run petrol but will cost a lot more to install.

Not sure if you can engineer a chev (350) into a 4 Runner.

Why does the 308 need to be gas :?:

You won't get and old carbied 308 engineered because it won't pass emissions (the engiune ...

I haven't personally ever blasted at home but we have a small blast unit at work we just make a Barricade out of cheap tarps (sides and a floor) so that most of the shot is collected and can then be reused. this will cut down on waste and mess but you will get shot to hell with the rebounded shot ...
