I can vouch for what Darin is saying. Mid-mounted winches are very common here in NZ and for good reason. Where they are mounted makes no difference to the pivot point they pull from. You can get there here in NZ, but they're quite a bit more expensive from memory. I can give you the number of a company here that sells them if you can't get a set sent back with your folks Mitch. They don't normally sell to individuals but gave me a quote when I rang up and enquired about them
