excuse my lack of knowhow ,but how easy ,or more to the point,how expensive will it be to change the final drive in my 105 cruiser to a higher gear, at the moment its only 500 rpm lower the 4th,has'nt the gxl got a higher cog in fifth.

thanks ferrit ,i'll copy that reply and give it to the toyo mech,getting a bit pissed that the vehicle comes with these inherent problems (front diffs,gearboxes ,no towing grunt)so guess what i was looking at getting --yea a prado, wonder if the new ones have the same box,you'd think they would have...

does anyone have any gearbox problems with their 105 or 78(i think)series cruisers with the above gearbox,mine(2003 model,diesel) makes a kind of meshing sound ,sort of as if starved for oil in 3rd and 4th when its cold and even after its warmed up,happens mainly when iam coasting with just enough p...

xplot i can only give you some of the facts of the system ,might work betteron yours if its turbo'd as dumbdance says,bit of a worry when an installer(eg tiny) doesent answer any questions Dumbdance thanksfor the fuel info ,i'll turn it down and see what happens ,esp to the smoke the dyno guy turbo'...

well the motor didnt go bang with the dyno ,even though it blew enough black smoke for me to expect a visit from the EPA the car is running quite abit rich ,about 14.3 air to fuel ratio should be in the range of 18,hence the over fueling /black smoke (blew some with the gas off)blew even more with t...

Tiny you should have an idea then about(improved!!!) preformance figures for a n/a 100series and why it blowing black smoke when i put the foot down a bit ,if its unburnt fuel thats probaly where my economy savings are going -out the exhust ,getting dyno next week which will give me a clearer pictur...

i cant afford the time to run back and forth for adjustments etc ,what i am looking for is reliability and long service ,perhaps i should leave this new stuff alone and just try a 2.5 inch exhust with extractors - nah stuff it , they must have worked out somethng to make diesels more efficient then ...

just off the phone from both torquegas and dieselgas from bris ,t/gas $2250 d/gas $3850 ??? whats the go, is there such a difference in systems that one can charge $1600 extra ,they both have to conform to aus standards etc ,very keen on t/gas ,certainly at that price its worth having done ,luxyboy ...
