Sounds like you'll need new pump seals - they can be stuffed by by low sulphur fuel on older vehicles.

Hitech Diesel Services on Churchill Rd are very good, and know Hiluxes well.

I think you'll find that the radiator sits very low on the 78/79series, making PTO fitment very difficult. I have a mate fitting one at the moment.

We've found the Coopers have a lot more sidewall punctures in the outback. Most of my friends who were running them no longer do. Goodyear MTRs have been the best. BFGs are a mixed bag - some people have a great run, others are horrible.

Late '99 the 75series became the 79series - 5 stud rims, coil front end and the cab was 120mm longer!

I looked at both about 8 months ago, and found it pretty hard to walk past a factory TD 79series. The cab is a little wider and 5 inches longer than a 75series and the TD motor is very nice. Coil fronts and leaf rears rides really well with a bit of a load. And the view over the bonnet was stacks ...
