yes.. since the day I bought it which was 4 yrs ago with 95K on the clock..

have tried filters, plugs, leads, tappets and all with no change..

I have resided myself to the fact that it's just the way they run... but it's starting to shit me ...

welds from what I can see look decent, can't really see but they look like they have a good amount of meat in them.


all I can see is a few tack welds :?

if you ahve any doubt as to whether it is strong enough or not.. then it most probably isn't.. get a pro to do it.. will only cost a few ...

Coils are the way to go :armsup: . Cheezy Racing did mine and it's grouse.
The chassis at the steering box will need to be strengthened to stop cracks.
Makes the Hilux come alive offroad and on road is smooth as (mine runs soft springs so I get a bit of body roll)

So does he use a Bundy front ...

So are 205R16's the only size fitted.. what about SR5's etc..

As far as legal is concerned.. 15mm increase is allowed in height.. so not even 1 inch :roll: ...

And I dont think I can be bothered with engineers to be honest..

Maybe just run a more aggressive 205 or similar size and get some ...

yeah im hearing ya but with the extra length in the springs it lets me run realy soft spring which close up real nice and 2inch 80 springs on a disco give it 5 inches of lift not 4
i was running 2 inch 80 springs but they were real soft which was good but i was not overly happy with the way they ...

Not sure on a reliable net source but here is what I have forund anyway if its any help.

Your 02 2.7 will be a 7.5mm, 4.3 ratio, open diff. All the 2.7s are the same and that is what mine had.

The surfs seem to run 4.56 and the older 22r SR5s run 4.88s.

thanks... on closer inspection the "B" could actually be a "3" but there appears to be a mark on the plate very close to it which makes it look like a "B"... which would be right as there is definalty a LSD in the rear..


So am I correct in assuming that any IFS Surf/4Runner/Lux front diff will fit ...

Noob ifs diff questions

Total noob when it comes to 'lux (see username ;) )

My Lux is an 02 2.7 petrol..

- Do Surf/4 Runner front centres fit ??
- Are all ifs front centres interchangable ??
- I assume all rears are the same as any lux ??

Looking at upping the gearing a little to co-incide with a larger tyre swap ...

Your best bet for perfect tele around Australia is the Aurora Satellite System.. which entails setting a dish up everytime you stop and a set top to view pics.. this will get you ABC, SBS ...

01/02 - 2.7 efi Hilux...

Sometimes runs brilliant then other times will feel like has no power, does not accelerate smoothly...

Sometimes there is no accelleration until I get to like 4000rpm.. then all of sudden.. it starts pulling real quick..

Swapped all the usual suspects.. new plugs & leads ...
