Re: 60 series offset rims

If it's an 8" whe it should be fine. -22 is the usual, no reason -30 won't fit.

Re: Fj55 steering box

40 series, FJ55 and early hilux steering boxes are all very similar, but the mounting flanges are on different angles. It would mean a bif of fabbing to get a 40 or hilux box to fit. I originally purchased a hilux PS box to fit to my FJ55, but wasn't real keen to hack the shock absorber mount to get ...

Re: troopy tyres & diffs

33x9.50x15 are available in BFG AT. 33x10.5x15 are available in BFG AT & MT. I've searched a fair bit and couldn't find any other options in this size.

Re: Are FJ47 or FJ47 rear springs as long as FJ55 rears?

Depending on the year, not all FJ55 springs are small pin. The later ones (75 onwards maybe??) had the big pins, but little eyes - ie 18mm pins, 30mm eyes whereas 60 series have 18mm pins, 35mm eyes.

Superior engineering sell cruiser hangers too if you want to go that way.

I'm just about to fit a VDO pyro to my Denco (2h) turbo. I'm fairly sure that mine is 3/8".

Re: rear leaf springs ,,

On the rear they are the same length, but the pins are in different locations. On the 47 the diff sits about 50mm forward of where the 75 diff sits.

On the front the 47 springs are about 30mm shorter and again the pin is about 50mm closer to the fixed end.

In a nut shell, not really.

33x10.5x15 will fit nicely on stock suspension. 35z won't fit on stock height. You will need a minimum of 2" spring lift and 2" body lift for that, and then you will get minor rubbing when flexing.

Hey Jack. Sounds like you are after a mild lift. I personally would go to the local 4wd shops, have a talk to them and if prices are similar, buy an off the shelf kit from the shop that you feel has the best customer service. A Hilux is a common vehicle, not much point reinventing the wheel. Asking ...

I was considering Marks gears when I relaised that I didn't like the 35z on standard gearing, but then I bought CW&P's from the US relatively cheap. Also read a bit on the forums about the marks gears being noisy.

I have the H55F in the 60 series with a first gear of 4.84 and transfer of 1.96. I have 4.56 gears (35" tyres), so my crawl ratio is 43:1. I find this very good offroad. A little lower would be nicer though. I think I would struggle with the crawl ratio of the auto. I know you already have the auto ...

What a dilemma! Paj looks very neat. That 60 (60 or 61, not a 62) is really sagged too. Rust looks pretty bad. I say get a quote to get the rust cut out and go from there.

I saw this at a local 4wd shop/wreckers a couple of years ago. The tyres are 37x14.50. It has Belton 4" springs, 2" bodylift and cut guards. Pretty sure the guy who owned it said it was still rubbing and he was going to put extended shackles on it as well. http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y195 ...

I think that they are expensive for what they are. Better to put the money towards a new set of springs.
