Re: Hilux 2.4 engine upgrade...? noob here
Years ago I replaced my 2.8 with a reco'd one. I looked at replacing with the 5l motor which is the same but different sleeve and stroke. The 2.4 has a different crank than the 2.8 and that is it. All the "l" motors will bolt up at the same mounts and box. Basically a straight swap. I acquired a ...

baby capsule into Hilux dual cab?
Hey guys. I was wondering if anyone's fitted a baby capsule into their lux? and if I could get some tips and maybe pics of whereabouts you guys mounted that fitting bolt it into the back? Do I need to get it to a panel beater to do any mods or welds? Is it even legal? Any help would be greatly ...

Why don't you take a look at a suzi vitara or something like that? Tiny bit smaller and a bit soft for my (and prob most of outerlimit's) likings. but it's got low range and will probably do the soft stuff what you're on about. Mate's dad has a Hyundi Terracan't he drove it up to cape york last year ...

Gday mate. If you do a bit of a history search about EFS and OME spring and shock questoins you'll see this over and over again. I had OME in my lux when I bought it and it was pretty flogged out, but then it did have over 200k on the clock. I found the OME rough and drove all over the place. But as ...

Actually it's not a real common dilema. There's millions of these motors running around still. Not to mention the 2.8 motor being next. If it were a common problem there wouldn't be many 2L's left. HAve you done all the usual checks yet? Genuine thermostat, fuel pump tuned right? radiator shroud ...

You'll get oil spit out the top every time. The rockers are quite close to the top there so there'll be a little bit of spit regardless. 3L's are nutorious for blow by. I remember seeing a brand spanking 3L lux ages ago and it had blowby then. They just do that. I had a new motor about 15000k ago ...

I pull in around 9.5L/100kms around town driving slightly fast but not really. It's got CT20 turbo on it and if you get up it she'll chew a bit more juice. If running costs is really an issue get yourself a motorbike. 4by aren't cheap to keep. My lux is a 1996 ln106 dual cab and it's an awesome car ...

It's quite simple guys SURFS have surf written on the badge. They only ever came in 2.4 and 3.0 litre Turbo diesels. A 4runner. comes in 2.8D (same as a hilux ute) and 3.0 litre V6 petrol. It also has a badge on the back that says 4RUNNER. Surfs are all second hand jap imports, 4 runners are all ...

how's about using a pryo or one of those laser thermos to measure your egt's. If it's not getting hot enough you're not getting enough fuel if you're getting too hot wind it back. Drive it up a long steep hill and quickly measure it once you hit the top. Let it all wind down coming down the hill and ...

I've had my lux for around 50,000kms. It's done 299,000 kays now and it has always pulled left. I've replaced the springs last year and just got a new set of D694's last friday. Wheel aligned and it's still pulls left. Most solid front lux owners i've spoken to has said theirs pulls left too. I've ...

i got a 94 ln106 and have had it around 3 years. Also have bullbar and it doesn't have those funny looking things underneath. I doubt you'll need it. I was told there is supposed to be a sheet of something there to help with air flow around in the engine bay, helps with cooling apparently. As long ...
