Re: Hilux 2.4 engine upgrade...? noob here

Years ago I replaced my 2.8 with a reco'd one. I looked at replacing with the 5l motor which is the same but different sleeve and stroke. The 2.4 has a different crank than the 2.8 and that is it. All the "l" motors will bolt up at the same mounts and box. Basically a straight swap. I acquired a ...

baby capsule into Hilux dual cab?

Hey guys. I was wondering if anyone's fitted a baby capsule into their lux? and if I could get some tips and maybe pics of whereabouts you guys mounted that fitting bolt it into the back? Do I need to get it to a panel beater to do any mods or welds? Is it even legal? Any help would be greatly ...

Those are all usual signs of old age. Most LN106's are over 300k's now. If they've had a hard life those things will all be evident. The knuckle in the steering arm are quite common to chipping off and giving lots of play in the steering. Diff seals etc? Well all 4bys leak eventually. There's ...

Why don't you take a look at a suzi vitara or something like that? Tiny bit smaller and a bit soft for my (and prob most of outerlimit's) likings. but it's got low range and will probably do the soft stuff what you're on about. Gday mate. If you do a bit of a history search about EFS and OME spring and shock questoins you'll see this over and over again. I had OME in my lux when I bought it and it was pretty flogged out, but then it did have over 200k on the clock. I found the OME rough and drove all over the place. But as ...

Actually it's not a real common dilema. There's millions of these motors running around still. Not to mention the 2.8 motor being next. If it were a common problem there wouldn't be many 2L's left. HAve you done all the usual checks yet? Genuine thermostat, fuel pump tuned right? radiator shroud ...

You'll get oil spit out the top every time. The rockers are quite close to the top there so there'll be a little bit of spit regardless. 3L's are nutorious for blow by. I remember seeing a brand spanking 3L lux ages ago and it had blowby then. They just do that. I had a new motor about 15000k ago ...

I pull in around 9.5L/100kms around town driving slightly fast but not really. It's got CT20 turbo on it and if you get up it she'll chew a bit more juice. Sounds like the fuel mix might not of been tuned properly. I reckon whoever fitted it just wound the mixture real rich and left it at that. Maybe try winding the mixture back half a turn and see. Or get a diesel shop to turn it properly. Very cheap to get that done. Your radiator should be fine ...

maybe you got crud worked down into one or a couple of your injectors? Not that much can go wrong with diesel. It's either fuel or air. From what you've said it sounds fuel. When did you last get the injectors cleaned? You're supposedly meant to do it every 100,000kays.

that's not bad for arb. Does that include install? I was quoted that a few years ago (about 2years) and that included fitting and wheel alignment.
