The turbo diesels were / are renowned for failing big end bearings. To the point that they are considered a consumable item and changed at 100,000 km along with the timing belt. Before you buy it drop the sump, remove the big ends and inspect both the bearings and the crank. The bearings will be ...

A 2.5 inch exhaust and a minor pump tweak will give a boost of 11 to 12 psi, which I would call the limit without an intercooler, for longevity I'd say your call of 15 psi would be about the max..
I never checked the turbo outlet temps though.

How deep are your pockets, nothing is impossible if you throw enough time and money at it. Look at a good tuneup, fresh filters and oil. Is your 2.6 carbed or injected? A set of headers and a 2.25" exhaust and tuned to suit would be about it without spending real money on port jobs and cams. A 2 in ...

Depending on your budget any of the 3 common ones seem to be fitted. Top mount, need to cut hole in bonnet and fit scoop, but is easier and has less turbo lag due to shorter pipe lengths, may suffer from heat soak due to position on top of the engine. Its certainly not rocket science to build one as long as you can weld a bit and have access to someone who can bend 3mm plate.
I'm happy to try and courier it down to you but the price would then be prohibitive I think.

Not sure if this is the right place, but here goes. Im looking at buying a 1998 normally aspirated diesel poverty pack manual 80 series wagon with 180,000km on it. Photo's man, we need photo's. The other thing to think about before you get it dynoed is a 2.5" exhaust with a high flow muffler. 2.5" Put on a free flowing muffler it will cut down some of the drone. Do the exhaust in conjunction with getting the boost aneroid on the fuel pump adjusted to suit. This will give useful boost from 17-1800 rpm rather than the 2200 rpm you have now, makes for a much nicer drive. Power increase ...
