tyre size for new hilux

A mate has one of the new style dual cab SR Hilux's with 205R16C tyres on 16x6 wheels.

What size tyres can he fit without any lift and the 6" wide wheels? 225/75R16's would fit easy but how about 235/85 R16?? Anyone know if they would rub?? Any other suggestions??

cheers.

If you want Maxxis, get prices from Bob Jane T marts. They have great prices on Maxxis at the moment. 35" Mudzillers for $270, 35" Creepy's $345. Bring your own wheels as they are cheaper elsewhere.

I've got 2 x carby's and now run EFI so could probably spare a couple?? Kinda wanted to sell the carbs as a whole though - otherwise pretty useless?? Let me know if you get stuck and maybe we can work something out. At least the spring will be cheap postage

I've sent some pics to someone recently - I'll try to find them again, pm me yor email address. Brakes - do a search... V6 4runner calipers, 78series pads(?? I think - would have to confirm) with a little bit grinded off and slotted rotors. Pulls up great now! And just make sure the rear drums are ...

I run 35's on my 60 with standard 2" spring lift (no body lift), a little spacing on the bump stops and a fair bit of guard cutting. Looks good, drives well and leaves most bits factory. Upgraded the brakes and gears to suit also. A little more offset on the wheels helps.

285's are a true 33" - slightly bigger than a 33x12.5R15 but also narrower.

I ran 315/75R16's (35") on mine without any body lift but required a fair bit of panel cutting/beating and a little extra offset.

rims were procomp 16" reverse dish with a bit of modification to make the clear calipers on the front. If you want 15's just get some cheap sunnies and get a wheel place to move them across - normally charge around $50/wheel to change an offset. In VIC there is AJAX and Eastern Wheel Works (used ...

I've got OME 2" spring lift (doesn't matter as your bump stops should be your limit anyway) and ZERO body lift and run 35's (on 2.5" backspace 8" rims). Just required a bit of angle grinder work on front and rear guards.

Just a short defense of the mighty 3F .... dirt cheap, take to gas better than just about any other motor, plenty of torque - they suit my needs no drama's. Mine's ticked over 300,000 with all of that on gas, it is cheaper to run than a brand new Barina, faster than my mate's V8 rangie's and turbo ...

80 series rims need spacer to fit on the 60 series. I believe the 60 requires 3.5" backspace max while the 80 is around 4". Option is either get someone to move the wheel centre across or use spacers.

Possibly something you have already calculated??? -> but have you worked it out with the accuracy of your speedo/taco included in your calcs?? Ie. if your running 33's possibly your speedo/taco is reading low and therefore you may have done more kms per litre than you think. From experience my 35's ...

If you want muds - get procomp muds, if A/T's general grabber. GT Radial Muds for the budget option with good offroad performance combined with good mileage - average on-road. my 2c.

depends if you got the $$ to spend?? I have HID's in as high/low beams in the 60 and they are good, but I don't quite think they are worth the money. If I had my time again I would probably just get 2 spots and 2 spreads as auxillery lights and mount them on the roof. Narva 175's are about the best ...

My 2c: Go the ARB's! Just from experience had them for years with no trouble's and they have only improved them since my old one's were manufactured. The o-rings are not a problem - one of those things where a few people install them bad, have a winge and rumours spread. If you're not a cafeful ...

I have a 3F with EFI and it runs great - highly recommend it. Most bits came from early 80 series 3FE (hard to find). Search the forum as someone else had a similar question on the 3F around a month back. With EFI intake manifold and extractors it revs very freely and gives many people a shock on ...

If you go straight gas you can ditch the petrol tank leaving heaps of room for the gas tank(s). The gas conversion will be cheaper and a far sight easier than the EFI. Just get a huge IMPCO or a gas research system. Sorry to harp on the gas thing - but I am a fan.

3F-EFI is great! I am no expert and I had a lot of help but early 80 series intake manifold (with injectors etc..), custom injector plate (to accept the injectors above the opening), aftermarket computer, some wiring, elec ign, fuel pump and other bits gave me a sweet setup. The 3F gets a hard time ...
