have you checked there are no screws stuck in the tyre?
I had this happen on a van once, it ticked until the head wore off the screw, the tyre wasn't going down which was a surprise

high tensile bolts should have a grade stamped on the bolt head. Mild steel is grade 4.6, I think most high tensile bolts are 8.8 although I have seen 6.8. shackle bolts may be higher than 8.8, I'm not sure. 8.8s would be fine for what you are doing I imagine, they are a very strong bolt. NickR

[Not wanting to throw it away I cut it in half and took it to a local canvas/saddler with industrial sewing machines and asked him to sew loops in the end identical to the Warn loops. ] I did this once too, it wasn't nearly as strong after it had been done and we pulled the loop out twice more. ours ...

A news paper and a bottle of single malt wiskey will do the trick.
first drink some wiskey and read the newspaper.
repeat this process until the knot is no longer a problem to you.

depending on your taste in wiskey a new snatch strap might be cheaper!!!

I cleaned out the wet tank on a commercial loader, after de-greasing the tank I washed it out with a strong detergent and to get the water out i rinsed with metho, someone once told me that if you had water in a fuel tank the best way to get the last of it was using metho as the water attaches to it ...

Anywhere that does fibreglass will have heaps of acetone as it is the thinner of the resin i think....
