What flavoured water was it and is there any evidence of it washing through your filter and into your intake pipework and manifold?

You're right, a coolant leak can give a sweet smell to the exhaust, is it loosing coolant and if so, how quickly?
Do you still get it if you leave the radiator cap just on loose?
Do you see bubbles in the coolant if you leave the cap off and the engine is hot?

You won't need many so cost won't be too much of an issue, just ask for how ever many M6 or M8 or whatever rivnuts for sheetmetal.

If diff "A" goes into diff "B" then the whole lot should really be reshimed if longevity is what your after in your diff, as there's no guaruntee either set of shims will be just right.

Pretty certain you'll have little chance of getting a diff out with one shaft still in.

Diffs despite looking like big solid gears have very exact tolerances, when you pull your diff out, make sure you mark which bearing cap goes on which side and do the same with all your shims.

I pulled my dearbox apart recently because it was making strange noises, and among other things I found that the pads on all the shift forks had warn all the way down, basically instead of being 6mm pads, they were now 3mm and using the entire shift fork face to shift the gears. Not good ...

Yeah there's a solenoid that controls the fuel when you start the motor, when it runs, and when you turn it off.
It's connected to the fuel pump by a little connecting rod which you would have had to remove when you took the diaphragm out.

What did you do when you bled the pump?
Undo the bleed screw, pump the manual pump until fuel came out of the bleed screw and did it back up again?

If you did all that, you should be able to crank the motor over and get some fuel coming out of the injectors, enough to start maybe and then crack ...

Is the ballast resistor still wired up or have you taken it out?
Also, the tacho can give you some kind of idea of what your ignition system is doing.
What's the needle on the tacho doing when it goes crazy, dropping more to zero, jumping up more to red line?

Which coil is on it now, the new crane one or the old original one?

The 4 and 5 speed boxes are essentially the same, the 5th gear on the 5 speed box is really just an overdrive hanging off the end off a standard daihatsu 4 speed box.
You will need the 5 speed drive shafts though, because the 5 speeds output is about 100 mm further back than the 4 speeds.

You can get these things on ebay quite cheaply too - just search for "12 volt impact".

They work a little differently to your normal rattle gun, so much so that I thought mine was rooted before when I first used it.
It's more of a spool up a dirty big flywheel then dump the clutch kind of action ...

Still, by the time you blow out a fusible link, you know you're really cooking, it suggests that you're pulling large amounts of current, and I'd be guessing a wire has come loose somewhere and is grounding out back to the body.

I haven't seen the electrical diagrams for your car, but sugest maybe ...

I don't know if the rocky's are different, but on my F50, the tacho signal comes off some wiring for the altenator or voltage regulator.

Yep, that's a F10, same 4 speed box (or maybe slightly different ratios), a little motor and totally different diff ratios.
