Think carefully about this, sinner.
One taste of a LandRover and you'll never be satisfied with anything else.

btw you can never have enough landy's.... one is always surely to be broken and that way you can swap bits to diagnose and keep the other one going    Unfortunately, there is a bit of truth to this, but don't you just love them anyway?! Wouldn't want to own anything else! A Landy in ...

Brilliant idea.
Is it possible to have too many Landy's? I think not.
My 97 v8 gets around 320-330km from 69 litres of gas. That's around 21l/100km, and never varies much no matter how I drive it. Beautiful to drive, too. Costs $28-38 per tank depending on gas prices at the time.

Go for it!

dont forget that the compression ignition engine was invented for a bio diesel, as "dino" fuels wern't even invented yet. I've seen this sort of statement a number of times in Biodiesel discussions. Fair enough comment, I guees, but have engines been designed to suit Bio or Dino in the last 100 ...

i'm not sure if disco's are prone to the dreaded power steering pump leak or not. Unfortunately they are. Mine leaks quite a bit, and is getting worse. I recently stumbled across a power steering fluid on the internet (from a reputable manufacturer) that claims to stop/reduce leaks, but I can't ...

FWIW, I've got a set of 31" BFG M/Ts that I put on my 97 Disco when I tackle some tracks. They scrape the back guards pretty easily but I've just tried to be gentle at the moment. I don't have any lift on it, so that should make some difference if you have a body lift, but not much (I suspect) if ...

FWIW, I've had my 97 Disco v8 for about 2 1/2 years. Bought it at 198,000km, now done 250,000km. I haven't flogged it, but don't baby it either. After all, it's meant to be used. Expenses apart from normal servicing: $500 for major service (at about 230,000km) and repairs to broken distrubutor shaft ...

My experience with my 97 v8 Disco is that parts generally are reasonably priced. One eastern suburbs part supplier lists disc rotors at $82.50 each. Compares pretty well with Holden/Ford rotors at Supercheap etc for around $70-75. Sump gasket sets for $66. I paid nearly $50 for a Holden 253 gasket ...

I've got a '97 Disco with no lift. 31" BFG MT's catch the guards with only moderate amounts of articulation. I may be wrong, but I don't think you'll get 33's to work without guard surgery, even with lift. Slunnie has done a phote tutorial on cutting the guards on his Series 2 Disco which should be ...

Only 2 short years ago, I'd never even sat in a LandRover. Now I own 3, and want more.

Wheels & stud patterns

Is the Triton stud pattern common to all Jap utes?
Are there any others that use the same stud pattern?

Dont the rear wheel bearings run on the diff oil? If I am correct then with the centre removed there will be do oil in the housing.
As I understand it, if there is diff oil in your bearings, you've got problems. Bearings should be sealed from axle oil and run in their own grease.

Cheap winches - any good?

There is a website selling 12000lb electric winches out of Melbourne.
http://www.thiswotidonow.com/

Apparently they will be on special in 6 weeks time for $799.

Anyone know if they are any good?

3.9 idling waaay too high

My 3.9 manual has been idling recently at around 2400rpm. It seems to occur at random from start up, either on gas or on petrol. Sometimes it will drop in stages back down to normal if I get stuck at a red light for a long time, but mostly it just continues idling high. This is not too good around ...
