Header insulation wrap

Has any one had any drama's wrapping a low mount turbo header with the heat insulator tape with regards to it retaining moisture and rusting out like on mild steel exhausts?

Or is this perfectly do-able?

macneil are you implying you need boost off road to keep moving, that is the 11th stupidest thing i've heard this decade. Why the hell would he want boost in low first? If your low is in fact not that low, up your diff gears or spend the money on rockhoppers.

Intake temp gauges/senders

Has anyone tried the Nordskog air intake temp sender and gauge from Frozenboost.com?

Or is there a reliable / accurate enough gauge from the auto shops that someone's used?

I've gota say I hate wankers that say search, like bogged and the like, go and stick your heads under your front wheel and get someone to drive over them. You have made this site unfriendly and hollow compared to what it used to be. What was wrong with that question, he said he had searched couldn't...

Top Mount Heat Soak Temp

Hey has anyone put an inlet air temp sender in a top mount set up and put the boot in off road, or took a range of figures across dif conditions? With or without thermo underneath. I'm interested in pharking off my frozen boost intercooler in search of less moving parts, but not if its going to get ...

My turbo td42 starved of fuel occasionally, i think after having a look last night that the breather gets full of crap and the IP isn't strong enough to supply and the fuel pressure hunts up and down and eventually conks out from tank vacuum/dirty-ish filter. This happened at the Cape and I fixed it...

Axle housing, have a look in the manual, there are different diff/housings on LWB and Utes. My 89 GQ runs the axle through an Outer Oil Seal then through a slightly larger diameter bore then the rest of the axle housing upto the diff is full of oil.

Hey check out my installation last xmas of the frozenboost kit, see what you think, it's a little bit off dicking about, makes a noticeable difference. I'm actually going to pull my one out and sell it off if anyone is interested and go a front mount air/air system. Keeping it simple. Ive noticed it...

outer axle seal

I've replaced these seals twice and again on one side yesterday after blowing a cv. I'm guna say it, they all leak, CBC, BSC Motion Tech, REPCO, NISSAN, they have all leaked on me, making the grease a runny slop. My old MQ of 8 years back had inner axle seals but the GQ wagon runs oil in the axle it...

Looks like a good fit. Yeah Brad, exhaust was from bob-parks aitkenvale. It's only 2 1/2, i can't fit a larger dump pipe in due to the PTO winch drive shaft.

Nice fit. Davies Craig hey, that'd have some flow to it, your fabrication looks great. Anyways just got rid of the exhaust and put in a straight pipe from the dump back to the rear tyre and dumping out on the left side. Whoa, she's got some power now, its making 13psi now (up from 10) turbo kicks in...

If you plan to do a desert trip, or the cape, or as before tassie west coast to Sandy Cape, etc, forget it on LPG. Yeah it's getting heaps of heat soak, although the radiator inlet is very hot and the bottom section is cold and the air flow at rear isn't that warm, probably over-kill. lWhen I get back to work I'll knick some turbine heat sheild, its awesome stuff, should fix that. Anyway just got back from towin...

Yep it was the moisture trap. Problem gone  34* 70% humidity today, normally fairly slugish before, now it just powers through, the only thing holding it back is the flow. I've got a 2.5" exhaust with squashed bends, fixing that up through the week. Dragged a new 3L Hilux neck and neck ...

Yeah I'm no diesel specialist by any means, but a friend that is was fairly convinced an injector or a few are on the way out. The injector pump is on 50K out of rebuild and turbo seals are fine, engine has done 90K, not much else it can be. It smokes under boost and at idle (white). As for the oil ...

Well put it all together on Monday, took it for a drive and the injectors let go. They're 90K old and non-turbo spec I think, buckets of white smoke (not the turbo seals). Renew them next week hopefully. So no 4B'ing up at Cairns as planned. And it's the raining non-stop with mud everywhere, s...
