Re: 1hdft into hzj79?

Almost right ;) My SWB had a 5cyl 1PZ / R151F combo. The engine mount location differs between the 1pz and 1hz engines as my 1hdft engine fits (only just) very closely to the firewall and I had to use the 1PZ radiator in/out hoses to reach between the engine and rad. (identical except longer than 1HZ ...

Re: 1hdft into hzj79?

exactly what Jonathan said. Additionally: The turbo diesel 7x series had 12mm fuel lines rather than the N/A's 10mm, so you should either replace the fuel lines with larger diam or add a low pressure (<10psi) pusher pump eg: walbro. Also, because the g/box is longer, the shifters may come up in a ...

Re: 1pz shortie

The 1pz is a good little motor. Exactly the same pro's and cons as a 1hz except it has a dual mass flywheel (can be changed to solid). I have an engine with a solid flywheel that I would be willing to part with. PM me.

Re: Series 6 Pto Warn Winch.

It sounds like a Warn Series 6 Hydraulic Winch with a capacity of 6000lbs (2720kg). I would suggest it is too small for a GU Patrol. If you were to use it, it could be run off your powersteering pump (aka milemarker -although due to the gearing it would be 4.3x slower than even a milemarker - which ...

I have run pro comp mud terrains for 3 years now. (35x12.5x15) I like them. I would be less concerned about the stability of the oil and more concerned about the effect of high temperature on the seals in the transmission. Max temp for oil seals vary depending on material type but is likely to be 120degC (Nitrile / Buna-N). Short temperature spikes shouldn't be too ...

Are you starving it of fuel when under load? The 1HZ N/A have a 10mm diam. fuel line from tank to engine, the factory turbos (eg: 1HDFTE) have a 12mm diam. fuel line. When turbo'ing an N/A, especially if it was tuned up a bit at the same time, the smaller diam. fuel line often has enough capability ...

I've had mine removed since installing a 1HD-FT into my 70 series a couple of years ago with no ill effect.

Any increase in air flow won't affect performance as a diesel will only requires enough air to burn the added fuel, any excess passes through to the exhaust.

If the feroza's have a dual piston master cylinder it sounds like the first piston is stuffed. I'd whip the MC off and open it up and check the seals. Should only need a set of circlip pliers to get into it.

x2 for the Donaldson filters, they are a good robust unit that filters the air very well while still allowing a large flow rate. You could also try a UMP Airbox. I dont have any personal experience but they are used by desert racers. Someone on here should be able to comment. They also take K&N ...

4" lift (2 inch body + 2 inch suspension) was ample.. you could probably do it with just a 2" lift and moving the front axle forward 25 - 30mm by re-drilling the spring perches ( search the archives if you dont know how to do this)

For the record, the 5 cylinder 1PZ and 6 cylinder 1HZ were also available from factory in the 1990+ vehicles, although they were called PZJ70's and HZJ70's.

While a 1HD-FT isnt quite a straight drop in job, it is relatively easy to do the conversion and it has definantly been worth the effort ;)
