I have one that i took out of a gq ute and i am going to fit to my Gu 4.2tdi.

It is a thomas winch and the only big problem is space for the pump and the Pto box. youcan achieve the space by moding the exauhst.

The GQ 4.2d & 4.2tb 5spd are steel cased and i think the GU 4.2 is alliuminum. definatly no pto outlet any more and no pto gear but the gear also disappeared in some gq in 97.

and i know i am going to have to fit a toyota part but a little inperfection in a nissan wont go astray.

a GQ 4.2td will go in a gu as ong as u have all the running gear to swap and u do a 1" body lift so the tunnel clears the gear box

I have a large front intercooler from a semi truck and would like to know if any one has any info on cutting down the cooler to suit my 4.2 deisel with a safari turbo.

so is the techo generator for the speedo on the gearbox or does it come away with the cable?

I have both the SD33t and the sd33 the 5spd and the 4spd, have done the conversion from sd33 4spd to sd33t 5spd
The head is different according to the workshop manual (diesel supplement).
I f you have a specific question i may be able to help.

what do you mean by use the speedo drive train cable. Does this mean retain the 5spd cable over to the 96 ST .

You can not use a petrol alternator on a sd33 as it does not have vacume pump on the back of it.
p.s the cost a fortune if you can even find one.
I have details for new ones from a manufactuer from overseas at a cheaper than new price but its still expensive.
