you should consider the WJ Jeep grand cherokee - especially if you can find the 2.7l merc crd

the v8's are a great motor - just a little thirsty 14-16 l per 100k

a 2in lift and 31 in tyres they are an ideal size very capable especially with quadradrive(front and rear lsd's)

extremely comfortable ...

If you want more than a 2in lift you will need an Slip Yoke Eliminator (sye) these are $1700 minimum

so keep saving and do that all at once

PS will need to do ratios as well if going 33's or bigger

Need at least a 3.5in lift for an XJ to fit 32's which i'm not sure are legal in QLD

Guys do 4 in lifts here to do 33's

2 in lift will fit 31's easy and 32's if you cut the guards

Check www.wooders.com.au or www.ausjeepoffroad.com and ask the xj guys in there

the v6 shouldn't be gutless its got better output than the I6 in the current wrangler

it might be the ratios limiting your hooning requirements

Until the american market has a need for rubicon in crd it won't happen

you miht get a 5.7l hemi one though then you wouldn't have any power issues

CRD are almost irrelavent in US

they cannot get the ratios right with the Dana 44's

Jeep are selling every wrangler they can make ....I don't see the research issue there

the crd in the rubicon will come be patient - let the demand slow a little then the JT Ute and Crd rubicon will be here
