I can tell a swb from a lwb in the sierras now, but how do i tell what models are WT or NT?

only problem is the 4door seems to go for about $8k, which is 4runner 2.8 territory. I want to stick under $5k, and finding one in WA might be hard.

for a few reasons im starting to think the sierra wont be best for me.

im not into bush or mud. but i fish a lot. so i need a good beach machine.

auto rules on sand (most of the time unless you going downhill). and the vitaras come in auto, woohoo !

is there more space in a SWB vitara than a SWB ...

have found a few soft tops i like, but the key concern for me is security. i will be carrying camping gear to the value of $3k at times, and I wanna know its not going to be easy to get into.

does anyone know if you can retro fit the hard fiberglass tops to the soft top machines? and if so how ...

ok been doing my research on the 3.0 for a while now (almost bought one last year but got an 80 series).

need some advice on buying a GU.

it appears gu3 has been very reliable.

if im buying used, will nissan still cover it? (i presume not).

if buying used from a dealer, is a warranty of any use ...

just wondering if someone could give me some advice on these older models.

how reliable were they, and would one be now days if i get it looked over and all looks ok?

were the a 3 seater? the front beach seat looks wide enough for 3 people?

and how would one go in the sand?

Hi everyone, thanks for all the replies. After looking around at other vehicles. I have decided to go with the sierra, short term, until I an can afford something a lot bigger. Not that I cant afford it, but the sierra will help me save for a near new troopy.

the surf did, but not going there if there is no garuntee to fixing the overheating issues.

and a hilux 3.0 diesel is almost tripple the price of the 4runner 2.8

im hoping to get an sr5, but think they stopped about 91? and if so how does the deluxe compare?

i need some advice on kitting this thing out for beach work?

1 thing im learning about zooky folk is they are very open and positive with suggestions.

have seen a few fiberglass hard tops around the $5k mark.

although i dont think a roof top tent would go well on the fiberglass top either.

are the hardtops really that bad? I seem to see a lot of kitted out ...

didnt think it would be too much stress.

i would want to fold off back anyway, that way you can have an awning/shade off the back off the car and put canvas around it and it is nice and private.

WT is the way to go i presume for stability, and leafs over coils for ease of use?

wow thats some travelling. but im talking 400km a day. i have travelled from sydney to perth non stop in my old landcruiser, with a 20ft boat on the back, without stopping accept for gas, now that was a long stint at the wheel, 2 of us taking turns of course.

I got rid of my 80 series mainly due to gas usage. So now I need something low on fuel costs.

They dont get much better than a sierra. and as I mainly need it for beach work, well they dont get any better for the beach either.

very rare though the 2.8 SWB. boy do they look snazz all kitted out.

with SWB, if I lift it, will this cause more issues than say with a LWB as far as stability is concerned? ie will it roll easier.

maybe im better off getting an older 2.5 paj instead of a 2.8, and with the savings on initial outlay, spruce it up a bit? they be similar engines with similar performance (ok 2.8 is noticeably better) and similar fuel economy?
