Hey mate, The overdrive issue could be related to this new issue but I'm not sure if it has anything to do with your ECU. The GQ I just just did up and sold had lots of auto problems. Originally it had the issue you have at the moment, The problem is that your torque converter is slipping due to a ...

DON'T drive it anymore. The filter is getting blocked up and means no oil gets to the gearset so it will melt causing complete trans failure and complete rebuild. If you are lucky you have caught it in time so will be a relativly cheap fix. But still likely to be a couple K to replace frictions etc ...

I'm thinking seriously about going to t400 and increasing hp to around 350rwkw. Powers available so I figure now is the time to change the trans as that is my restriction.

Simple equation. The best 24v motor is the 7.8hp 24v Superduty. The best 12v motor is the 6hp Warn motor. The 7.8hp 12v Superduty motors are good but the Warn motor is better. From what I've seen the 12v Superduty with 24v would be a handgrenade! I've run 24v Superduty motors for a long time ie I ...

With that much hp offroad you just don't need the gears. My old truck which had 375rwhp 4.1 diff and Patrol manualised auto (sort of!), would change and it made no difference to acceleration. The big thing with manual auto is you never need to take your foot of the gas so they just keep going. My ...

I wasn't thinking about the axle articulating so you are completely correct. I also didn't understand what you meant with statement about 'A' frame causing sideways movement being due to distance between the mount and the driveshaft. The full explantion makes it quite clear that what you were saying ...

With the stock patrol suspension the axle rolls about a theoretical fixed point on the panhard rod at the centreline of the vehicle. If you change to a A-frame, the panhard has to be removed and the axle rolls about the pivot at the axle end of the A-frame. The described fixed point is called the ...

hey how many companies make 12'' shocks and who are they? i know bilstein does. im looking to upgrade. cheers 12" is a common run of the mill size shock so everyone from Munroe through Bilstien, Fox, King etc and everyone in between has a 12" travel shock. Are you talking standard emulsion, coil ...

I've run mechanical and Stuans. Stauns take more maintenance BUT if you do this maintenance then they are very good. Lighter and they also increase stability at low pressures by reducing sidewall flex. I found with the same tyres on the same truck we could run a lower pressure with the same control ...

The more you compress the suspension the less the shocks work so as it leans in a corner the shocks will provide less dampening. You need to get the shocks more upright so they work correctly and also the wider the spring the better it will corner. When cornering the wheel rate is calculated taking ...

That's sweet. It is funny how with suspension the more you learn, the more you realise you have more to learn! And everything is a compromise! But i will argue that an 'A' frame can't work. If designed properly it can work and in some cases a 4 link is not an option so an 'A' is the only way to do ...

Re: Suspension set ups
I just wanted to know whats the best flexing set up. And where to find the link calculator? It's very important to know the reason why you want flex. Flex alone will not help you if the geometry of the suspension is incorrect. Like wise, the link calculator will not help you determine the geometry ...
