Maxidrive axles and locker were the best thing I've ever done to the Rangie. Go the rear locker first to minimze breakage.

It's a 76 2 door so the water comes in from badly fitting doors That water Xing was done at a crawl (1st low just above idle) Bonnet vents don't allow for a bubble to form under the bonnet. The main problem is water hitting the coil/leads etc. I've been meaning to get the wife tuppaware out to fix ...

May seem like a stupid Q but I can't get my Rangie thru any water deep enough to go close to justifying a snorkel. Is it just the 4.4 donks that hate water or are you guys doing other things as well to waterproof them :shock:

Spoke to a my mate who has worked for L/R as a mechanic for years and his only thing to watch out for is a clogged radiator. Some may have a noisey T/F case but even thats nothing to worry about. Just look for one with a full set of books :P

Have to agree with BJ as to the benifits of Maxidrives. I just had the rear done and I'd just about put money on my Rangie against one with a big lift and rubber.

Another point with lockers is that you don't have to use as much loud pedal to get thru stuff thus saving on CV's etc.

After hoping under the truck and having no more idea than when I started I took it to a Gearbox outfit...........came back from test drive and...... :oops: :oops: :oops: speedo is screwed inside the box and that was causing the noise........Thanks again for all the info :P

Just had the oil replaced about 1 month ago........used engine oil. I'll check out what you guys have said and keep the diagnostic team updated :P
